My 1 Year Review of Supermachine
Supermachine has some potential, which is why I bought it. But it's held back by a few issues that just won't go away.
The interface is slow, clunky and hard to use. Also generating images is slow and unreliable with random fails or full models not outputting (it's better now, but still not great), uffff lots of lost credits. The models themselves are okay, but they're not great at anything in particular. I'd rather have no models and just tell Supermachine what I want in what style. Having 10 anime models and models you're not sure what the point of is.... pointless (because the output is bad no matter what you write, but some models seem to just output trash). If you look at my gallery, you'll be shocked – it's 90% trash just from me trying to generate that one jewel...
I think most reviews here are from people who haven't tried other AI image generation tools. Because if they had, they'd be a bit disappointed with Supermachine's quality. It's slow, complicated, and I have to spend a lot of time tweaking prompts and trying models just to get a decent image. It's all so slow, needlessly complicated, and with little to show for in the end...
So, if you're looking for a tool that can quickly and easily generate high-quality images, Supermachine is still not the right choice. There are other tools out there that are much more user-friendly and produce better results. However, if you're just looking for a basic AI image generator to play around with, Supermachine is not a bad option. Just be prepared to deal with slowness and frustration along the way.

May 9, 2024Thanks for the feedback. We wanted to make the interface as simple as possible to use but offer advanced settings to really fine-tune your image prompts and get the outputs that you want. Understand that some of the settings are difficult and we're working on a whole new video series to make this more simple. I totally get that building out the prompts can be difficult compared to other tools, we're also working on an AI prompt assistant at the moment and have tutorials on the image 2 prompt tool coming which will showcase how you can get certain images quicker.
In terms of speed and reliability, we keep trying to get our reliability better. In the past it hasn't been as good as we wanted, some of the recent improvements have now seen our % failure rate drop to an all time low of 0.06% and we're actively looking at those small fails still to reduce further. Speed is something we're always looking to improve. One thing with Supermachine is that we don't limit the amount of images in the queue so a user can queue up multiple generations at a time. We see this as a strong positive feature but it can mean if a user has queued up multiple it can make the queue longer. We're looking at ways to tackle this in future but the queue rarely gets above 3 generations long.
I think a lot of the success with a tool like this is the learning of making the solid prompts and there is definitely a way to get awesome images with our technology, it is the same technology that other tools are using so I think with the AI prompt improver and better documentation/tutorials we can showcase the best way to use Supermachine and have success.
