Q: It got asked multiple times below: Is there a specific reason why it's not possible to upload the videos to swarmify ?

For some usecases it would be more practical to upload it directly to your service. Second question: Is it possible to select the streaming quality in your player ?

A: Thanks for the question. The Smartvideo platform isn't designed that way for a variety of reasons however we are listening to valuable feedback.

I'll re-post my answer here that covers how and why we don't have a way to currently upload video to the platform.

There's no "uploading" necessary.

SmartVideo has reimagined video publishing, and this works in your favor. Uploading your files to a new video host is painful. Furthermore, we believe our customers should be in control of their original source files and video hosts should never lock you in or keep these files exclusively. With SmartVideo, this means two things for you:

1. When publishing new videos on your site, you simply tell SmartVideo at the time of posting where your source file lives. SmartVideo will fetch a copy of this file, then automate the entire workflow by encoding it, storing it on a global delivery network, publishing it, then accelerating playback to your viewers.

SmartVideo supports S3, Google Cloud Storage, Wasabi, Dropbox, Google Drive, and even pCloud as the original file source location.

2. If you have existing videos on your site published through YouTube or Vimeo embeds, SmartVideo treats those services as the original file source location and automates the workflow process in the same way. The added bonus is you don't have to go back and replace those previous embeds either. SmartVideo does it automatically.

Simply put, we strip away your need to "upload" files to us.

As for selecting streaming quality, we don't allow for customizing that. SmartVideo automatically delivers video in the highest possible quality based on a variety of factors including device and Internet connection and adjusts along the way. The goal is to make video publishing *effortless* by not having customers needing to turn dials and pull levers.
