At tier 2, for the contacts size, most businesses may not even need more than one domain, let alone 2. Offering more limits on features that are probably not a fit for a tiers persona only dilutes the value of other tiers.

There are support and maintenance costs that add up substantially over a period though it may not really seem much. For example on Swipe Pages we offered unlimited sub-domains and most businesses having one primary domain will not need more than a handful of sub domains. You would expect 10-30max. But there were a couple of users who ended up creating 1000's of subdomains. Very unique use case not really meant for how the product is meant to be used. They basically use the deal as a hack and we end up facing hard technical problems that affects our ability to scale fast and serve other customers properly. In this instance, they were using up a lot of Free SSL certificates, hitting rate limits with providers, slowing down domain connection for others, adding up to a lot of hidden charges. So we want to offer reasonable limits that will ensure we will deliver the best quality of service to our customers and we are able to iterate fast rather than battle edge cases.
