Poor UI, buggy, and restrictive (refunded)

Syncupp is a great concept, but is just not ready for prime time. There are too many issues with its underdeveloped UI and buggy functionality. I just can't see this being used with a serious client or team without some frustration on their end. Built-in AI is very limited (currently only responds to a very small number of questions, which seems to be a bug), and if you plan to rely on it and chat across multiple users even just a handful of times a day, the allotted credits are highly insufficient and will run out quickly within days. Also, it severely limits the types of files you can attach to a task, and it won't even allow you to delete files, which shows just how poorly it was designed and the lack of proper QA. This is simply not a mature enough product to take seriously, as it poses too many risks from an implementation standpoint.

UPDATE:
In response to the founder, I found myself spending more time than I would’ve liked right from the start reporting too many glaring issues to the point where I lost any further interest in the platform. Also, my AI credits wouldn’t even work properly as I was only given 150 credits rather than the 1,000 I was supposed to get on Tier 2. To make matters worse, there is no roadmap, no feature request page, and no dedicated ticketing system for support queries. For a business touting the importance of effective project management, it’s ironic how poorly it is managing its own operations.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We take every review seriously, including the tough ones.

Attachments: This is now fixed. All common file types are supported, and you can delete files anytime. Had this come in as a feature request, our team would have shipped it just as fast. We’re known for being very responsive, and our other reviewers can vouch for that.

Looks solid

I don't usually post reviews, but this product & founders does look really promising. I have been using Asana earlier, but this seems like one of those products which I can switch to from Asana.

Thank you so much! This truly made our day. 🙌

Switching from Asana is exactly what we built Syncupp for: simpler task management, plus gamification that keeps your team engaged. If you’d like a hand moving your projects over, just reach out and we’ll walk you through it.

Glad to have you with us! 🔥

Project management with gamification and WhatsApp built in

Disclaimer: I'm a paid product evaluator for AppSumo and received this tool for free to provide a detailed review. My opinions are entirely my own, and my compensation is not tied to the rating or taco score I give.

Most project management tools are good at telling people what they need to do. Syncupp tries to give them another reason to actually do it.

The gamification is a big part of that. Completing work can earn coins and XP, build streaks and move people up a leaderboard. Those coins can then be tied to rewards you define yourself, so the reward system becomes part of the everyday work instead of something a manager has to run separately.

I tested creating and completing tasks and awarding coins, and that worked well. I can especially see this working for agencies, sales groups or other environments where a little friendly competition can make routine work more engaging.

Syncupp also brings a lot of the day-to-day work into the same place. There are project boards, tasks, chat, meetings, time tracking, attendance, roles and permissions, along with the leaderboard and rewards. You can work in kanban, list or calendar views and break tasks down with subtasks, dependencies and recurring schedules.

The other big advantage for me is the native WhatsApp integration. Task assignments, deadline reminders and daily summaries can go directly to WhatsApp, and some approvals can be handled just by replying without opening Syncupp. For groups that already rely heavily on WhatsApp, that could make the product much easier to adopt because people can see what needs attention where they are already communicating.

I also like that WhatsApp and the gamification are included across the AppSumo tiers rather than being reserved for the higher plans. The tiers mainly change how many people and workspaces you can have, along with the amount of AI usage included.

During my test, the leaderboard did not update immediately after coins were awarded. The team reproduced the issue and said they were adding real-time updates. The current AppSumo listing now describes it as a live XP leaderboard with real-time rankings, so that appears to have been resolved.

I also found a visitor-tracking script running inside the logged-in application during the original test. The team removed it completely after I reported it, which I appreciated.

There are also integrations with Slack, Zapier, Make and Pabbly, plus Claude MCP if you want to bring Syncupp into an AI workflow.

Overall, I think the reason to choose Syncupp over another task manager is the combination of gamification and WhatsApp. The project management side is familiar, but coins, streaks, rewards and native WhatsApp updates give people more reason to stay engaged with the work and less reason to miss what needs to get done.

Thank you for such a thorough, honest review! 🙌

We really appreciate you flagging the leaderboard delay and the tracking script. Both are fully resolved now: the leaderboard updates in real time, and the script is gone for good. Feedback like yours makes Syncupp better for everyone.

You nailed what we’re building: work your team actually wants to finish, right where they already chat. 🔥

Taco Mondayy - Syncupp Edition

Keeping this short and sweet. First rating on AppSumo, and that in itself says a lot.
My experience in the last hour or so with this app has been as follows:

1- Yet another Kanban app, let's see what's upp!
2- What's with the gamification Shenanigans. Cha-ching! More coins please :)
3- Navigation is a breeze, minimalism at best, like it was designed by a yogi.
4- 2 boards in and I'm hooked. It works on my Android phone too

Count me in as a fan, but you're not off the hook yet if I encounter any hiccups. And don't forget your grassroots when you go big ;)

Wow, your first AppSumo review, and it’s for us? We’re honored! 🙌

“Designed by a yogi” might be the best compliment we’ve ever gotten. More coins are coming your way, and if you hit any hiccups, just ping us and we’ll jump on it.

And don’t worry, we’ll never forget the folks who believed in us early. 🔥
