A Promising Community Hub with Great Potential, But Feels Gated...

I'm giving TagMango a 3.5/5 tacos. It has a a lot of potential, but as an Appsumo user, it feels like some of the best features are being held back, which keeps me from falling in love with it.

The Pros (What I Like):

TagMango gets a lot of the core functionality right. For a community builder, it ticks many important boxes:

Content & Courses: The ability to host courses with drip content is a huge plus.

Integrating with a payment processor was straightforward, and I love the ability to create tiered service models.

The white-label option is fantastic for maintaining brand consistency. Creating workshops and booking events directly on the platform is also a key feature that I was looking for.

The built-in automations for reminders and follow-ups are practical and help streamline engagement.

At its heart, it provides that essential "home base" for sharing announcements, celebrating wins, and asking questions.

The Cons (Where It Falls Short):

Despite the strong foundation, there are several areas where the platform feels restrictive, especially for LTD users.

My biggest issue is the feeling that as an Appsumo user, I'm getting a limited version of the product. Key features like gamification (challenges, scheduled tasks) menu customization, and the ability to create upsells are withheld from us.

Additionally Appsumo users don't get access to the premium web templates and the website builder itself feels a bit archaic and could use a modern overhaul.

The inability to offer free courses or resources. Freebies are a cornerstone of community building and lead generation. Not having this makes it much harder to attract new members.

No easy way to share a library of files (i.e. templates).

There doesn't seem to be an official public roadmap or changelog. They have little section talking about future updates, but I'd rather see some type of can kanban board of feature requests, in progress, and shipped

The bank account setup process was a bit clunky And kept erroring out when I was implementing Routing and account numbers

A Note on the LTD Relationship:
I inherently understand that users incur costs. As an LTD buyer, I don't want to bleed a company dry. Similarly, a company shouldn't want to milk its LTD users. It should be a symbiotic relationship. I invested a large upfront cost to get an amazing deal on your product. In return, I’ll provide feedback, referrals, and recommendations to help you grow. That partnership feels strained when it seems like the best features are perpetually out of reach.

My Recommendations for the TagMango Team:

Reconsider Your Appsumo Tiers: Instead of withholding features, consider a model based on usage. For example, increase the processing fee to 1% for Tier 4 LTD users to cover costs while giving us access to more features.

Enable Lead Magnets: Allow us to create free courses. If you're worried about Video hosting costs, limit them to Youtube or Vimeo "embed-only".

Be More Transparent: Create and share a public roadmap. Let your early supporters see and vote on the vision.

Final Thoughts:

TagMango is a good product with the potential to be great. The core infrastructure for building a paid community is there, but the limitations placed on Appsumo users make it difficult to fully endorse. With a few strategic changes and a more transparent, symbiotic approach with its user base, I believe TagMango could become a top contender in the community platform space.
