rgibbsQ: SMS & Unlimited Contacts?
Hi Jason.
I appreciate that Tarvent can't be all things for all sumo-lings, but a couple of questions:
1. Do you have any plans to add in the ability to send SMS in the future?
2. Is there any chance of an unlimited contacts with restricted number of emails type of plan?
I'd love to ditch ActiveCampaign, Acumbamail, etc. but in the use case scenarios I'm dealing with such as events sites, there's a need to send an SMS reminder on the morning of events that a subscriber has signed up to, in addition one site has in excess of 250,000 subscribers but often sends less than a 1,000 emails a month as these are highly targeted and depend on what kind of events the subscriber has expressed an interest in.

Sep 22, 2024A: Yes. SMS is definitely on our roadmap. Unlimited contacts will probably never happen since we'd have to charge based on email volume if we did that (that's how our industry used to be then it chanced, for most). I do understand what you mean about segmentation. Just because you have 250k contacts doesn't mean you'll send to all of them. However, to be transparent, much of our cost is in the database, which stores the contacts, their campaign and journey events, and more. The database also runs the segmentation and every other query to render the data you see. In other words, the email part isn't the expensive part, it's the database. That's with most platforms, not just ours.
