My Honest Review of TaskMagic (Tier 1 Buyer)
Hey, I just wanted to give my review of this product because I bought tier one on AppSumo and I found it incredibly frustrating to get anything out of this product or the support. Um, so ... (clears throat) This screen that you're looking at here is the main screen of the app. It, it took me a long time just to get to the screen, um, for starters, because I couldn't even log in at first. I, um, I activated my email through, uh, AppSumo and was then taken to TaskMagic, but there was nowhere to create a account there. I had to try and, um, do the reset password thing to create a password, but that wasn't working. Um, support were no help. They just sent me another link to reset my password, which again, didn't work. Took me to the login page. I was in a loop. It was a mess. I managed to solve it myself by deleting my cookies. Finally managed to create a, an account and log in (clears throat), and I end up at this page here. Now, on tier one, okay, so I spent, what was it, $69 or something on it. I'm expecting something for my money. But as you'll see from this, I don't know what I've got for my money here because I can't get this thing to do anything at all. For starters, I couldn't even figure out, (clears throat) was this, uh... I- the initial, um, impression is that it's a web-based app because I'm here on a browser, and then I start reading the reviews and some people say it's an, it's a desktop app. So I download and install that and it's basically the same thing that you can either use the web, web app or the desktop app. Um, so we're here on the desktop and the first thing you could do here, I suppose, would be just to mess around, see what works. Says, "No flows found. Create a new flow." Great. All right. Create new flow from scratch. Let's try that. Oh, no, I, I need, I need to pay for that. All right, well, okay, e- even a new flow I can't create. All right, so well, let's try the templates, maybe they work. But no, the templates don't work and none of these templates work. Um, they all take you to the subscription page. So, all right, I can't create a new flow. I, I'm gonna have to see what else I can do here. Runs, that's grayed out. I don't know what I can do with that. Connections was one thing where I had some success. I managed to create an API key in my OpenAI and to add it here. Now, I've got a paid plan on ChatGPT, so, um, I created an API key there and seems to be okay. Seems to be active here. Um, these AI Things, I haven't done any of that, I'm not quite sure what that is just yet. But this MCP requires a higher plan and the Tables requires a higher plan. Settings, I was expecting maybe some information about my, um, my product or, um, what tier I was on, but this is just light and dark settings. There's very little there and users is just me as an admin. So I have all of this and nothing seems to be doing anything. I did go to browser automation, which obviously is the second part of this, is that you can automate browser tasks. So let's have a look at what that does. So we get to this, it looks like a totally different app here. It's a, a different screen. This is completely blank. I don't know what's going on here. There's no prompts to do anything. This is the home page and there's absolutely nothing on it. I go to Agents, says, "Create your first agent. You don't have any provider connections yet. Add one to create and run agents." Right. So the agents automate your tasks. So open Connections. So now we're here in Connections and I thought I'd created an OpenAI connection via my API, but obviously not. So I went here to add a new OpenA-, uh, uh, connection and I put the same connection name and API key into here and it just, uh, did not accept it. It said, "Invalid API key or invalid user." Um, so I could not do that. No matter what I did using the same exact API key, didn't, didn't work on that. I don't know what that is, uh, why that's not working. So I'm working my way through here. Open Apps Builder takes you back to the initial page. Um, Browser VPNs I wasn't interested in just yet. What's New and Settings. Download desktop app. I did this, um, to see if maybe I'd got something wrong that I'm downloading, that I'm using the app wrong or something. I downloaded the, the app and it's this same window. Um, I'll show you because I've got the app open over here and that's the, the desktop app. Um, it's got a little bit more information here, but...Like, there's nothing there. I don't know what that is. So, okay, we go back here. Create new work space. I think this might, I thought this might've been like a, a, um, a solving it, so let's see if we can create a test work space. Right. Only work space owners can create new work space. As an invited member, you can only access work spaces you've been invited to. Please purchase a subscription. So at this point, I'm like, "What does this app do? What does this do? What have I paid money here for?" So I look around on AppSumo and I find this review, um, uh, of this guy. Basically, "I wish I'd seen this before. Tier one buyers beware. I'm sure the dev will call this a not a real one-star review, accuse me of being cheap," um, uh, "but at the tier one level, I didn't have access to creating a flow or doing seemingly anything. When I create a new flow, both from scratch, it's redirected to a s..." This is my, this is my experience exactly. "This feature requires a, a higher plan." He said the, the onboarding video was condescending, which I kind of agree. It was also a mess. I didn't understand what to do. I've looked at the help files. I don't know what to do. They, they jump in at a screen that I don't have, and they say, "Right, so you're here. Create your first recording." And I'm like, "I can't get to that page. I don't know where that page is." Um, I have a feeling it might have something to do with, um, creating the agent, but I can't create an agent because it won't accept my connection. Eh, at the end here, he says, "As predicted, the dev is unhinged." He ... I have read some of Jeremy's responses to these critical reviews and he is the last person that should be responding to critical reviews on here because, I mean, he just says, "No, I just think you're wrong here." This is your support team, right? "And I answered all your questions, lol." "On tier one, you have access to one apps-based flow." Well, I didn't get any apps-based flow and browser recording. I didn't get any of that. "You come in here just to poop on something and I guess lie?" So he's accusing the guy of lying because someone has hurt you some way? I mean, uh, I, I don't quite understand. "Please don't take it out on us or others." I mean, this is just, this is diabolical. So I, I, I'm not really sure what to do here. Look, i- if Jeremy ever sees this, I would really like a refund. I, I think I'm outside the 60-day period, but, um, this, uh, uh, is completely useless to me. I can't do anything on this app. So yeah, um, I guess I would like a refund. I doubt I'm gonna get one, but that's what I'd like.
