Had high hopes! Support too slow!
I got high hopes for this hosting service, but it being more and more annoying every day.
The only good thing about this service is the superfast hosting speeds and has security features built in. I am impressed there!
Lets look at the cons:
1. You cannot login to the TasteWP dashboard from their website directly. Instead go through the Appsumo Products page, and launch the app from there. Thats the only way TasteWP recognizes your premium account. Otherwise you get shown the payment page. If you get a new machine, logout from existing one, then repeat the same process.
2. Migration is a hassle. Its good if you have a small site, the backup plugin is good enough to handle it. But if your site is more 300MB, then backup restore is a pain... After several trial and errors I managed to get 2 sites up and running.
3. One of my site migration in particular is becoming a huge challenge. Due to lack of any filemanager or support for other backup plugins, I gave up and asked the support to do the migration for me (because they offered). Apparently they replied claiming now that I am no more a premium user!! OMG...
4. I feel their dashboard interface is flawed... sometime when I login to the dashboard, I don't see the custom domains in my site list, rather the random subdomains... It was shocking at first, because I thought they cancelled my account... but it seems that is a UI glitch, because my two sites are running fine.
I am still waiting on a reply from support about the bomb they dropped on me saying I am not a premium user anymore. All in all, the backend of this service is good, but the frontend account handling needs a good QA check. I wish Appsumo had caught this.
I still got hopes on this service and and expecting they will cleanup the mess before the refund period.
Update in a week ========
Support is responsive, and I have come up with workarounds while they fix the annoying issues. I am gonna keep it!
Update after 2 months ======
Support is too slow to respond, and my client site is down for more than 24 hours now. I regret giving this a 4 tacos. This was a bad investment... definitely not renewing after a year.

Apr 11, 2025Thank you for your feedback! Let me address your points one by one:
1. It is definitely possible to log in to TasteWP and manage your sites directly. The AppSumo route is only needed once, to activate the deal. After that, you can always log in via tastewp.com using your credentials.
2. Our backup and migration plugin usually handles migrations well, even for larger sites — that’s why it has such great reviews on WordPress: https://wordpress.org/plugins/backup-backup/. But of course, if there are any issues, we’re happy to help out. Could you please send us an email to hi (at) tastewp (dot) com so that we can check this case in detail? If you have a debug code, please send that along as well.
3. We weren’t able to find any email regarding your account being downgraded. If you did receive a message like that, could you please forward it to hi (at) tastewp (dot) com so we can take a look? If you got the AppSumo deal, you’re definitely a premium user.
4. Thanks for mentioning the issue with the dashboard view. This is the first we’ve heard of it, but we’ll investigate right away. If you notice it again, a quick screenshot would help us track it down.
Please do get in touch so we can clarify everything and get things running smoothly for you. Thank you!
