Uneven Experience
August 24, 2025, update: I initially had a good experience and gave five stars. I did not have success in moving my Backup Migration plugin (produced by the same company that offers TasteWP, Inisev), but the TasteWP team helped move it. I was grateful, especially because I was leaving SiteGround, which had become increasingly robotic with support and beset with skyrocketing prices, in favor of a hosting plan offering an outstanding deal.
The website didn't look fully right, and I thought I would need to update theme and plugin licenses for it to match its previous look. I didn't have time for three months to touch it, however, as I was in the thick of moving nine other websites off the dreaded WordPress. As of today, search functionality is missing, and shortcode is broken sitewide. It's unclear whether this broken shortcode is connected to the Backup Migration-saved website or because the shortcode developer caused errors with an update.
In the past several weeks, my experience went south. When I was ready to go live on TasteWP after my SiteGround terms ended, my email was supposed to have been sent to a team member, but this person, weeks later, after I wrote support asking for an update, acknowledged he didn't read the email fully and understand that he had tasks connected to it. Eventually, some things were fixed and other tasks remained, and then, just like before, my email went unaddressed as I went back into the dark.
This weekend, August 23 and 24, my website, still riddled for six weeks with "s5-tastewp" in permalinks (TasteWP was to help with this as far back as July 18), went down at about 4 p.m. Saturday (and remained offline the rest of the day) and was down for five hours Sunday. Other shorter outages have been happening daily for two weeks. With all the problems, my website slipped off top rankings for my own brand name. Crushing for a 732-post website with more than 1 million words of content!
I wrote support again. This time, I got a fast response. A team member promptly fixed the permalink issue. The Inisev owner, Nick, emailed right away, explaining that new measures were put into place to prevent future outages.
It's really been an up-and-down experience. Some very good, and some very bad. I hope it can be better moving forward.
