Q: Hi Lawrence, Not sure will you support the payment service in Taiwan and what's the difference between this version and Taiwan version?

May 14, 2024A: Hey willliu,
The current situation of payment services in Taiwan is quite unique. Stripe doesn't support account applications from users in Taiwan, and PayPal also prohibits transactions between users in Taiwan. Additionally, the financial regulatory authorities and payment service providers in Taiwan have strict regulations on digital products.
However, after our efforts over the past period of time, we are now able to provide stable and smooth payment services in Taiwan. We also support Taiwan's unique invoicing system, ensuring that each transaction has the corresponding records as required. This is one of Teachify's distinctive features, aiming to be localized and compliant in different regions.
We are also planning to launch LINE Pay, which is highly popular in several major Asian countries.
Currently, there are significant differences between the international version and the Taiwan version in terms of functionality. This is mainly due to the numerous payment regulations in Taiwan, and we have previously developed some versions that were less widely used. In the future, we will focus on reducing the disparities between the two versions and enhancing localized services, such as language support and integration with local payment methods.

Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for the swift reply.
Does that mean I can target Taiwanese even I am on the international version (AppSumo) with your TW payment features? Or it's on your roadmap of this version and yet to be implement currently?
Another question, do you support Chinese interface in international version? I am thinking to have your plan but would like to target TW residents.

Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for the swift reply.
As mentioned, does it mean it would be possible to have your distinctive feature for Taiwan payment in the version-international version-you listed here for AppSumo Sumo-ling?
And one more question, do you support Traditional Chinese interface especially front end as I am thinking to buy the license here but will target to Taiwan users?

Hey, there are two possible ways to run your business in Taiwan market with Teachify:
A.
The international version of Teachify currently supports Stripe and PayPal but does not support localized payment gateways for specific countries. However, regardless of whether you use Stripe or PayPal, you can receive payments from anyone, including Taiwan. In fact, we already have users who use Stripe for services primarily in the Taiwanese market.
The only exception in this case would be if your PayPal account is registered under a Taiwanese citizen's identity, as it would be subject to PayPal's regulations that prohibit direct transactions between users in Taiwan. Therefore, it would not be usable. However, this leads us to the second scenario:
B.
You can open a local account where consumers can pay in Taiwanese dollars, and you can receive the payment directly in Taiwanese dollars. However, our international version of the product currently does not support local payment service providers in Taiwan. To comply with local regulations, including payment processing, invoicing, and related tax requirements, you would need to use our Taiwan-specific version of the product.
As for the website interface, we currently provide English and Traditional Chinese interfaces, and we will soon be launching interfaces in Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and other languages.
We are excited to assist in the development and growth of your business. Please feel free to provide more suggestions and ideas.

Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for your swift reply.
Do you mean that I can order here and to have the Taiwan-specific account or I need to use Taiwan version? As you only launch the international version with LTD plan but there is not LTD plan an be found on your Taiwan version.

Hey willliu,
I apologize for my oversight in not replying to your message earlier.
If you want to charge consumers in New Taiwan Dollars (TWD) and have the funds directly deposited into a local bank account in Taiwan, then you would need to purchase the Taiwan version. Currently, we do not offer LTD options for the Taiwan version. Due to the complex regulations, payment systems, and e-invoice requirements in Taiwan, as well as higher operating costs, there are various considerations that need to be taken into account. I hope you understand.
If you are using the international version with Stripe and collecting payments from customers in Taiwan, that is also possible. The only difference is that your funds will be directly processed through Stripe and deposited into your bank account associated with Stripe.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know.
