Really cool platform and some issues
First things first: this is a really cool platform with high potential. It's playful, fun, and you have many possibilities to use it.
In my opinion, these are their strongest an unique features:
🌮 spaces and rooms – playgrounds for groups, memberships, networking
🌮 you can create multiple spaces for different groups – great
🌮 ability to broadcast per space – great
🌮 "Teleport"-feature – ability to move entire groups to a specific room, event or meeting
and last but not least:
🌮 you can monetize your events through Stripe, without Tevent taking any further fees
So here are already five tacos, and I give these five tacos to Tevent without restriction, because I believe in their potential.
Ok and now some negative aspects.
GDPR compliance and privacy: yes, there are some big, fat issues by now. Let's see and try to look at it in a positive way 😉
Some good news: If you want to use Tevent really GDPR- and Privacy-compliant for yourself and your guests, you (almost) can achieve that. But you have to actively search and find the ways and the hidden "where"s in order to get there (that's the bad news). You can influence the following points:
⚙️ deactivate cookies going to your own account/preferences/data&privacy
⚙️ set every space, room and event to "not listed" (otherwise you are visible everywhere)
⚙️ set the permissions of your spaces as restrictive as possible in order to prevent your guests to do things you don't want them to do
ℹ️ inform your guests, that they can watch your events as guests AND that they can prevent Tevent to create an account for them. In order to prevent account-creation, they have to exit the event by clicking on "log-out" button TWICE, confirming TWICE that they do NOT want Tevent to create an account.
ℹ️ advise your guests to uncheck the marketing-news-box in case they do sign up an account with Tevent
And then there remains this privacy issue, that you cannot influence:
👎 the visibility of the account-name to ALL Tevent users. Yes, that's a big no-go regarding good privacy practise. And that is nothing that you can change yourself. Well, you can achieve some privacy by choosing account names like 463585749373537. Not so cool? Yup, you're right.
😐 Another thing to consider: in a call or a meeting, every user (means, your guests too) can record the session. Everybody then gets a message "recording has started" – without previous ask for consent (another no-go from privacy point of view). Every participant can stop the recording at any time. That's okay, but does it really make sense, that every participant can decide whether or not the session is recorded?
Overall: Very cool platform. I like it and I would like to keep it. But as an European User, I seriously have to follow GDPR and good privacy practise 😉 If Tevent will fix those privacy issues, then I'm in.

* GDPR - Thank you for highlighting this, it is something we will be working on in the very near future to ensure we meet the stringent EU regulations in full. As a mostly tech-focussed team, we'll be looking to bring in a legal expert to help us navigate this! Thanks also for providing guidance to other users on how to navigate the settings to achieve GDPR compliance, we'll be adding your tips to our Knowledge Base!
* User visibility in search - We've been debating this feature internally and are coming closer to a solution, which will be added to the roadmap in due course. Keep your eyes peeled for a big FAQ update next week containing this and other roadmap items.
* Guest session recording – Thank you for your suggestions, we are looking into this and will add more customisable functionality in the near future.
