Q: I would have stacked up on this deal, but the pesky feature that fellow sumo-ling Marco described (with a video recording) gives me pause.
Background: I had previously stacked up 10 Clearout.io deals and while I have been satisfied with it, I am open to considering a comparably-priced product/deal that may have fewer false positives.
A discreet 'Powered by TheChecker' would only be fair. After all, if startups are offering LTDs, it's not unreasonable for them to hope for and expect more word-of-mouth business this way, through integration on early adopters' sites.
However, a prominent X icon AND a hyperlink to an external website may undo a lot of painstaking conversion optimization improvements in our sign-up forms. The potential gains from TheChecker's email verification service may not be worth the drop in conversions.
I hope that TheChecker's founders would empathize with other product owners, undo the hyperlink, and even make the 'Powered by ..." icon/label less prominent. (I like how many AppSumo deals indicate, "*Light* branding" as an alternative to white label offerings.) Many of us can do without white label solutions and would accept light branding as a fair bargain for generous LTDs.
Thoughts, Bernardo? I'd appreciate your thoughtful response to this concern on reduced sign-up form conversions and the suggestion to tone down TheChecker's branding.
