Hello I'm excited to try out trainwel! Is the platform mobile responsive? Can training be done on mobile phones? Also looking forward to finding out your response from other users regarding an unlimited user plan or increased user plans. Thanks!
if we are a software company looking to use this for publishing support articles, would a user be our editors, would our customers end users just be the audience of the public KBs or do they need to sign in to interact and be considered a user?
So users are internal employees with access to the system. There's the private knowledgebase which stores all information they can also be assigned courses made out of knowledgebase info. Life if you wanted to onboard a support staff. This also includes those with edit access.
For public kbs anyone can view and access the information who can access that public kb. We don't count these viewers at all.
So if you have a software team with 5 staff some who want to document some basic fundamentals about your stack and some on customer service or exec roles. You'd likely want to make those users so the 5 user plan would fit your needs. Then you can make public kbs for each software you put out and each of those you can decide which internal articles are pushed to each of those.
I hope you're doing well! I was wondering if it's possible to add support for RTL (right-to-left) direction in the editor. It would be a valuable addition. Thank you
Hi, Can you clarify: 1. what does it means by " unlimited public KB"? - can each public KB has a unique URL with cname? or is it all under one domain url? 2. How do we assign user's access to edit/publich the KBs? can we also limit on how many KBs each user can publish? 3. What AI do you utilize beside chatgpt? if not, what is the roadmap to incorporate other AI? 4. What is the pricing for 150 and 1000 users tier?
A: 1 unlimited public kbs each with their own cname. Here's a video showing public kb's a bit. https://share.descript.com/view/AZj8BDNEwbf right now we don't have custom styles but that should be released this week
2 those limits aren't in place as of yet. if a user is an admin then they can edit create and delete all of them. but more granular controls are on the way
3 so for our search it's just chatgpt and some self-hosted models for managing the semantic search. honestly, each of the ways we use ai are pretty specifically set up so not sure when we'll give the option to choose the model since that can change the expected output.
4 I'm waiting for appsumo to get back to me regarding the tiers and pricing as soon as it's set I'll post it here
Thanks for the reply. For #2 - If I grant both users A and B as a user (which I assume they both get admin access?), can they edit/delete each one's KBs? If so, how can we prevent such?
This is a great use case example and something we can look into adding, the app has focused more on internal knowledge sharing than external, as such the simple permissions have been sufficient so far.
The internal kb is the bucket that holds everything from course modules to all articles/videos etc. Then you assign knowledge to any of the public kb's. I will think this out and update you soon!
That would be helpful in preventing accidental edit/deletions. Assuming you also plan to have a tracking or log mechanism to see who was last edit/delete any particular KBs?
The log system is in place on an individual article it tracks who read it and each edit. When an article is edited after it's been read by someone there's an option to notify everyone who's already read it of the change.
Then there is a global log on each edit change, deletion, etc of everything in the system.
Just to clarify - if I assign a user an account, does the user automatically get granted as the Admin? I am a little confused, as we are trying to prevent users to edit/delete other user's KBs.
Why would I use the User permission, if all KBs are public? "A user can only view their profile and see the user list and view articles mark them read and see/do courses assigned to them."
So the software is primarly designed for internal employees. The knowledgebase that stores all articles, videos, etc is only availible to signed in users and admins. aka not public. signed in users can mark courses and articles as complete, be assigned knowledge, use the ai search, be put on an org chart and alot more.
So if somoene is not added as at least a user then they can only acess a public kb at whatever url you publish that site to, and all they can do in the keyword search and view articles/videos, etc.
If in your use case you only want to do a few public kbs then just buy the lowest plan and you'll be good : )
Q: CNAME
Hi do you offer CNAME for the public knowledge base or for user who signs in? and is there Trainwel somewhere? I am asking this because some of us here prefer to have CNAME for our professionality "looks" for our own company. Could you confirm this because I am interested to purchase highest tier if this is available, if your answer is yes, I believe it would be great to put it in tier description to make your campaign more interesting (because this is great). thanks!
So unfortunately your assumption is correct. Cname is specifically for the public knowledge bases.
Cname/white label is possible but not added yet. I think because we already have it for the public kbs it shouldn't be too hard but it's not a discussion we've had yet. It certainly is on the table. Send me an email and I'll notify you. Austin@trainwel.com
Q: Are audio, videos transcribed
- is transcript visible and searchable - are pdfs ocred and searchable - Are private/internal kb possible- if yes in which tier. Thanks
A: Yes transcript is visible in the form us subtitles on audio and video. And yes searchable.
We actually didn't do ocr yet, another user mentioned that this weekend. We have it added now just running tests so should be love by tonight, tomorrow latest. Currently it just extracts text from pdfs with it embedded.
The software is designed around a internal knowledgebase and internal courses. So it's the main use case and included at all tiers.
Our public knowledge base feature is newer and still being further enriched. As a private knowledge base/lms we are top of the line
1. Website feature about google workspace image is broken 2. Please provide demo link to explore and test other preloaded with demo data 3. Does this embed google sheet/docs/slides links? 4. Does KB key word search works and article suggestion work without AI keys?
We don't have a google workspace feature but I'll look to find the broken image. Thank you so much for reporting it! Yes working on a new video and a demo link is a good idea. Yes you can embed whatever you like. We also support direct upload and rendering of videos, excel files, word docs, pdfs powerpoints and images. ai search works on all uploaded content as well.
Yes kb search works without ai keys. The AI search works too there just a limit if you do more then 500 searches a month that you'd need keys. We actually don't have an article suggestion feature. Can you elaborate on what you're expecting?
500 searches a month is very low and restrictive and it's not highlighted in the plan limits. Please increase it to 1000 for 1 code plans, 2000 for 2 code plans etc, and highlight this in the plan please otherwise it's hidden limits in the plan as it mentions mostly unlimited.
Sorry 500 is just the limit without putting your own code in and only for the ai powered search. This is just to cut down on ongoing costs since we're billed for the searches from openai.
The standard deep word search is unlimited.
To be clear. In the plan limits it states the AI search needs a code to work at all. The 500 free searches is just a bonus. To expand, you can always add openai code

@noah_moses it doesn't let me post a real reply to your review update. Please email me at Austin@trainwel.com and I'll resolve your issue immediately. Unfortunately, I never got your original email so I don't have a way to contact you directly
Q: Ability to add more users?
Need 100+ users. How much to expand to add people as we grow?
Any user can be made an admin. Just two roles. Admins who can create and change articles, courses etc. and non admins who can only read. Mark things as read, etc. I should get more granular now that you mention it but just haven't yet.
Also when something is made public then anyone on the net can see it who has access to the url it's hosted at.
Onboarding we have an easy drop any file or zip file to create articles, videos categories etc. Also happy to set up an onboarding call.
Regarding super okay. I'm not sure. From what I looked up these are entirely different softwares. Omg trainwel is for internal and external knowledge sharing/training. Super okay is like client portals.
A: Yes, you have to email us, but you will get a CSV of all articles. Other stuff like courses and categories just has a list of the articles and questions in them but not their content.
A: I will reach out to them regarding the verification process. I'm from Clearwater, Florida. I was an exec at a 3x Inc. 500 investment company, a self-taught developer, and started this product to help manage my staff.
I have another software called Humanagement that was on AppSumo some time ago. It has some features in common but is an HR software with a much larger feature set. Over time, I found most people just used the training features. So I'm releasing this to get a better product-market fit, and to be able to try messaging for free the awesome Sumolings : )
Humanagement is already a profitable app, and due to a partially shared code base, you can rest assured that Trainwel and your deal are here to stay.
I love employees and helping mentor and motivate my juniors. )

I guess we are trying to understand - what is the difference between an Admin, a user and a custom when invite someone to signup.
Verified purchaser
Great questions!
So an admin has the ability to both create and update users as well as create and update articles, courses, etc.
A user can only view their profile and see the user list and view articles mark them read and see/do courses assigned to them.
Customer is when you make someone a kb admin but not an employee admin or vice versa.
Basically permission groups
Why would I use the User permission, if all KBs are public? "A user can only view their profile and see the user list and view articles mark them read and see/do courses assigned to them."
