Troop Messenger has an excellent feature set and I have not had any trouble with the communication tools. I have used Teams and Slack and like both tools but find that when I try to bring in a collaborator from outside my team/organization, it does not always work well for me. I like the Orange Member feature that limits access to the communications you want the outside collaborator to have. I would like the app to look a little more modern but it is not terrible. There are other nick picky complaints I have that are really minor but overall I like the app. The tutorial videos are not helpful and the webinar was no good at all, so I will be emailing support more frequently.
