Slack and Zoom combined then better
Its very quick to get through the small negatives
The colour choices and name are not as modern as they could be - all perfectly manageable and easily changeable.
The UI is a solid 7, not intuitive but after 30 minutes its perfectly ok.
However the good deserves more explanation.
Slack is an enjoyable tool which I have used for the last 7 years however Salesforce has bought it and my expectation is that this is not for the good of the tool.
Zoom has had little real development in the last 10 years.
We need new tools to provide real competition.
Troop messenger gives a clear conference call with easily shared files and desktops that deserves an 8.5 out of 10 versus the general 6.5 or 7 on a good day for zoom.
Slack has a more modern interface its true - but after a month of using troop messenger I realise that this 'older' interface actually gives less of a sense of chaos and endless hashtags/channles vying for my attention and splintered conversations.
The ease of video conferencing within the same slack environment means less chatting on endless channels and that is a good thing. I can mark what is important, have someone else tell me what of their message is important, easily send interesting parts of the messaging to other groups or begin messaging to other groups from within this one. There is a reason that Slack never turned a profit, it is a glorified watsapp group manager. Troop messenger is trying to do more out of the gate.
small but powerful additions
Leaving audio messages and native google drive integration speeds workflow. Having a real private mode for ensuring 100% GDPR capabilities for HR messages. with Burnout LDAP/Active Directory/ SSO. Live tracking of users and the ease of calling with someone who is not a regular member means support / field support is actually possible within the same tool.
Don't worry about the colour secure a couple of codes and get yourself two old fashioned tools for the price of one.
To sum up.
Troop messenger is redesigning the workspace
