What are past projects, failures, or successes you’ve had in your career?
Our founder has a background in building and scaling SaaS products and leading large engineering teams. In the past, he worked on enterprise-level solutions that processed millions of transactions and supported global customers. Along the way, we had both wins and failures - like trying to build billing systems from scratch, burning time and money, and realizing the hard way how painful it is. Those lessons directly shaped UniBee: we took the enterprise-grade experience, mixed it with startup speed, and created a billing platform that’s powerful but still accessible.
What 3rd party tools is your product critically dependent on?
Our product relies on the following third-party services:
- Payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Changelly, etc.) for processing payments
- Tax calculation services (e.g., VAT Sense) for handling VAT and sales tax rules
- Email/notification providers (e.g., SendGrid) for billing and system notifications
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS) for hosting and scalability
- Authentication providers (Google/GitHub OAuth via Auth.js)
- Databases and caching (MySQL, Redis) for data persistence and performance
Where is your customer data stored?
Customer data is securely stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
- Primary data storage uses MySQL with Redis as a cache layer.
- Data centers are located in Europe (Germany/Frankfurt) and United States (Virginia), depending on client requirements.
- All data handling follows GDPR and international privacy/security standards.

What’s the origin of the idea for your product?
The idea for UniBee was born out of frustration. We’re a startup ourselves, and we saw how much time and money was wasted trying to build or hack together billing systems. Our first partners literally spent millions creating their own - until they found us. We started by working with enterprise clients, but deep down we wanted to solve this for startups like us. Billing shouldn’t be painful, expensive, or boring spreadsheets - it should just work, so you can focus on building your product.
What problem is your product solving and how?
Billing is either too expensive, too complex, or too limited. UniBee solves this by giving startups and SaaS teams a flexible subscription and invoicing platform that works globally. With built-in checkout builder, multi-entity support, crypto payments, and customizable integrations, UniBee removes the pain of managing payments so founders can focus on growth instead of spreadsheets.
What’s the #1 thing you’re looking to gain from the AppSumo campaign?
Our main goal is feedback from real users. We want to learn how startups, agencies, and SaaS teams use UniBee in practice, so we can refine features, build smarter integrations, and make billing simpler for everyone. The AppSumo community is perfect for helping us shape the product’s future.
What are your plans with the customers, cash, and learnings from the AppSumo campaign?
We’ll use the customers and feedback from AppSumo to improve UniBee faster - refining features, building integrations that matter most, and polishing the user experience. The cash flow will help us scale infrastructure and support, so we can serve both startups and growing businesses better. In short: your use cases and feedback will shape our roadmap, and the resources will make sure we can deliver on it.
Any details to clarify about the deal?
