Q: Excellent App but need to improve transcript format - suggestions for improvement
Thank you for the translation feature. I used UniScribe to generate a PDF, but the result had major formatting issues. Key problems include: timestamps (e.g., "A 00:03") cluttering the text, lack of headings or proper paragraph separation, OCR/translation errors for Sanskrit terms, and missing visual formatting. The content appears as one long block, making it hard to follow. Terms like “malleus incurs and steps” seem incorrect, likely meant to be “malleus, incus, and stapes”. I suggest improving structure by adding subheadings, bullet points, and correcting terminology for clarity. I appreciate the service and hope improvements are on the way.
A: Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! We’ve added your suggestions to our improvement list, but it may take some time before they are available. We really appreciate your patience and support in helping us make UniScribe better.
Q: Will the live transcription update down the road include AppSumo lifetime purchases?
Otter is my go-to at the moment, but I'd love this to replace it and only need live transcription and the ability to "chat with the transcript" at anytime.
A: Thanks for your question and for considering UniScribe as an alternative to Otter!
At the moment, live transcription is not on our short-term roadmap, so it’s not something we can offer in the near future — including for AppSumo lifetime users.
That said, we’re always listening to user feedback and will continue to evaluate feature requests like this as we shape our roadmap.
Is it able to generate mindmaps from YouTube videos? It looks like it is fetching the existing YT transcription instead of parsing those audio: Do YT transcription (which is offered for free) consume credits when used as logged in user?
A: Yes, mindmaps can be generated from YouTube videos — but only when the video is transcribed through our main transcription service.
If you’re using our free tool here: https://www.uniscribe.co/tools/youtube-transcript-extractor, it does not support mindmap generation, as it simply extracts YouTube’s existing transcript.
Also, to clarify: when you transcribe a YouTube video through UniScribe...
Q: Do I have to manually assign names to speaker at every paragraph break?
I just signed up for a test account, and I really like what I see so far. Elegant in its simplicity, truly.
Is there a way to assign speaker names just once, and then the system is smart enough to then assign the names to each speaker as the dialogue progresses? Or is that something that must be done manually?
A: Thanks for the kind words — we’re really glad you like the simplicity!
To answer your question: Right now, our system can automatically separate the speakers (like Speaker A and Speaker B), but it doesn’t yet auto-detect who is “David” or “Tom.” You can quickly rename them in bulk (for example, change all “Speaker A” to “David”), but it does require that manual step.
Q: Why advertise when its been sold out?
Your ads keep popping up on social media, but your Appsumo offer is sold out. Is it going to open up again?
