Q: maintaining and exporting print-ready documents
I am considering UPDF mainly for maintaining and exporting print-ready documents. Could you please clarify the following points about colour management?
Does UPDF preserve embedded CMYK colour profiles (e.g., FOGRA39, U.S. Web Coated SWOP) when opening and saving PDFs, or does it automatically convert colours to RGB?
When I edit or add images, does UPDF keep the original CMYK values of those graphics, or are they internally converted to RGB and then re-exported?
Can UPDF export or save PDFs in PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 format with CMYK/spot colours intact and embedded output intents?
Is there a way to preview or verify CMYK separations or simulate print colours before exporting?
Finally, can UPDF handle spot colours and Pantone swatches, or does it flatten them into process CMYK?
