Q: I'm looking at buying Uppbeat's ltd, but I have a question first.
My youtube videos are quite popular over here in Taiwan, and news agencies often like to ask for the rights to do a short "mashup?" or condensed version of the video and share it to their social media channels while crediting my channel with a watermark in their video. If their video happens to play parts of the music that was included in my original video, will that be covered? If the license doesn't cover that instance then I would be shooting myself in the foot for using audio that isn't covered, and thus couldn't be used to grow my platform. Thanks for any clarification you might give!

Any news yet? If a news agency makes a "summary" video of my original video and post it on their social accounts (Free for audience) and some of the original music is audible, is that covered? Thanks for any clarification.
Hi Sumo-ling! I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you, thanks very much for your patience. I checked and incidental use of Uppbeat music is allowed for things like a news feature, but we realised that it wasn't actually mentioned in the Uppbeat license so we've added a new clause to clarify:
"5.6 With exception to Paid Advertising, full and unrestricted clearance is hereby granted explicitly for the incidental inclusion of The Tracks in 3rd party material (for example, a showreel or news feature) as a result and in the sole format of exhibiting or featuring an extract of the original content."
I hope that helps! š If you have any other questions, please let me know!
