Q: looks like a false sense of security.
The options to limit from which web you can watch a video is already available for unlimited videos in vimeo and others. The option of adding the ip overwritten to prevent someone captures videos with camtasia or others, does not really protect the video because here in my country the ips are mostly dynamic and not static (it is not possible to report a specific user). Also, it is always possible to consume the content with a VPN that protects the original ip, for all this, I do not think that protects my videos more than other cheaper options. Honestly I have always looked for a real protection for the videos, but I haven't found anything yet. Now my question is: is there any other function that justifies for me the investment?

May 15, 2024A: 1. Vimeo does not use Widevine DRM encryption and way less secure, they only provide domain whitelist. We use Widevine DRM encryption used by likes of Netflix, which makes content impossible to download with tools and hacks like IDM, Video download helper etc. While other providers are very prone to tools like IDM,Video Download helper. We have had 100+ customers previously using Vimeo, but now on us for security.
2. Our APIs, plugins can also display user id, email id, phone number ( if you are taking phone number as part of user during registration) over the video. So, it is not just about IP watermark and better deterrent.
3. In native Android and IOS app, our SDK integrations with the highest security configured can totally block screen capture tools.

Hello. In my country there are also dynamic IPs. But my video course is already on wordpress and this includes a wordpress plugin that also stamps the name of the user viewing the video, on the video - so if they record it, it will show. Wordpress can also log what IP your users log in with and keep a history of that, so even if they have a dynamic IP or VPN, you can look through the history and find out who logged in with that IP. Maybe whatever software you're using for your membership could do that as well.
Vimeo videos can easily be downloaded. Just search for "download vimeo" and you will find a website where you just post the url and get a download link. Even without that, all major video platforms that are also expensive can be easily downloadable by if you know a bit of HTML code - and I am no HTML expert by far.
But you cannot do this with encrypted streaming, so the only option would be to record the video while playing, which is what the dynamic watermarking can help with.
It really is a complete solution in my opinion.
