A: It was not our intention to release CNAME custom domain but because so many Sumolings requested it, we dived in it head first.

There are 2 main reasons for a minimum of 2 codes:
Vectera benefits from the network effect it generates: You are always inviting new people to meet so that helps spreading Vectera. That was a major reason to go ahead with Appsumo. With CNAME, that effect is strongly reduced.
Furthermore, CNAME configuration is quite a technical setup for the end user (you have to change your DNS settings) AND you need SSL for your subdomain (which is not required by most other Appsumo deals but it is required for videomeetings). Only a minority is able to do this from a tutorial without any support. From what I've heard from other Appsumo partners, offering CNAME brought in so much support requests that these partners just killed support for Appsumo after the deal. And that is not what we want.

It's not uncommon to require at least 2 codes. Other Sumodeals offered this as a subscription addon (eg Plutio). Many other Appsumo deals also require stacking (Dubb 5, Clust 2 to name a few).

It's already a very successful campaign with lots of codes sold and we could sell even more codes with winding down to one code for CNAME but that wouldn't keep our service going in medium term & long term.

There is just no alternative offering CNAME videomeetings with all these features for life with room for 2 hosts for just 2 Appsumo codes.
