Jul 24, 2026A: On models and auth: here’s the key distinction. vexp doesn’t connect to models or handle their authentication. It feeds code context to your coding agent, and your agent is what talks to the model using its own credentials. So how you authenticate to Claude (company SSO, an enterprise plan, an API key) is between your agent and Claude, not something vexp controls. If your coding agent supports SSO login to Claude, vexp works on top of that setup regardless.
On Claude vs Kimi vs ChatGPT: vexp is model-agnostic, it works the same whichever model your agent runs, because it only trims the code context being sent, not the model call itself. But it’s not a multi-model hub that routes between them, and it only works when there’s a local coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and so on) that speaks MCP and works on your codebase. If by ChatGPT or Kimi you mean their chat apps rather than a coding agent, vexp can’t plug into those. If you mean those models behind a coding agent, then yes, it works fine.
So the real question is which coding agent you use. Tell me that and I’ll confirm exactly how it fits. Free tier lets you test it on your setup.

vexp is specifically a tool for developers writing code. It works with coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, and so on) on a codebase, and it cuts the tokens they spend reading your code.

If your work is marketing rather than software development, there's a good chance vexp isn't the right tool for you, because there's no codebase for it to work on and it doesn't optimize prompts or costs for general AI apps or marketing workflows.

The one exception: if you actually build things with a coding agent, tools, scripts, websites, automations, working on real code files, then vexp does help there. But if you're using Claude, Kimi, or ChatGPT for marketing tasks like writing, research, or content, vexp doesn't plug into that, and I'd rather tell you now than have you buy something that doesn't match your work.

So the honest question: do you write or build code with a coding agent, or is your use mainly the AI chat tools for marketing? If it's the latter, this isn't the tool for you, and I'd rather be straight about that.
