Q: License Tier 5 $1,049 | Plan Features | NO NEW FEATURE UPDATES POSSIBLE

Does the AppSumo contract include a feature parity clause or a plan parity clause?

If there is a feature parity clause, is this how you interpret it?

Example:
If you add a new feature to your “Pro” plan in six months, you are required to give that feature to all AppSumo customers who purchased a lifetime “Pro” license—even if your pricing or included features change later.

What is your understanding of this clause?

How do you interpret which “Pro” plan features must be included under the parity clause?

My view:
I believe parity means AppSumo buyers only get the features available at the time of purchase, and not any new features added later. AppSumo has allowed many companies to follow this approach in practice, even though it leaves users with an outdated product which feels like user abandonment

Which is it?

A: My view has always been App Sumo members get all new feature updates. In fact, since our launch in App Sumo, App Sumo members have not only received any and all updates (which have been a lot), we're actually very generous on the limits of these new features compared to our subscription plans (that's why you'll see for a lot of our features Sumo-lings will get 10 of something regardless of Tier).

My reasoning for doing this is not only do I believe it's fair and I want to reward my early adopters, but also, I've learned Sumo-lings give great feedback so it's great when new features are released to get that early feedback.

The only situation I can think of where a Sumo-ling wouldn't get a future feature is if that feature is really expensive for us (ex: offering a really expensive AI model), but in that case, I would still offer it as an add on (we don't have any plans to do this right now, but I'm just thinking a loud).

Long story short - I love rewarding and supporting my early adopters in any way I can. It is not part of my strategy to convert Sumo-lings into subscription users. Your early support and constant feedback is more than enough for me to want to continue to support you the best that I can.
