I just purchased three codes of Video Peel. It's an app that I believe has lots of potential, but I'm not sure if it's where it needs to be yet, for me, anyway.

I REALLY want to love this program and I'm hoping that Video Peel is working on addressing the app's shortcomings!

First, the good.

I like the AppSumo price for the deal!

Creating a campaign is very easy as is getting a share code which is automatic. And, the preview is easy to see how the campaign is going to look.

I like that the app provides a way for customers to easily upload videos through the share link. And, the videos get uploaded and stored on Video Peel's server. The process is easy and painless.

The process was smooth and easy to use the share code on my iPhone to upload a video.

Now, the bad.

For my first campaign, one of two custom image options (think of the FB circular photo), while the image appeared on my computer screen, was not visible on the preview or on the campaign link. And, I tried it in Safari and Chrome (neither worked).

In the lead management section, I choose three items, and they did not appear in the campaign in the order I chose. And, there is no custom option for choosing what user info you want to capture. So, you can't add items.

I was unable to find any documentation on customizing your campaign. Most of it is self-explanatory, but some not so much. Anyway, if there is any, I didn't see it and I think a lot of people would benefit from it.

There is a YouTube button, so I'm assuming there is a way to send videos to YouTube, but couldn't find any documentation on how to do so.

The customization options are slim. For example, you can customize the header color, but not any fonts, sizes, or placement (left, center, right). And, you can't customize the background of the campaign color.

While, as I mentioned previously, uploading a video on my iPhone from the share link was easy, the process from my Mac in Safari was not. First, there is a button, "Record or Upload Video." You click on it and you get two choices, "Record Video" and "Upload Video." When I clicked "Upload Video" and I chose a video, the screen changed to show Video Upload with an arrow. Clicking on the arrow you see the video and four buttons, "Record Video," "Upload Video," "Delete Video," and "Retake Video." So, the ui is terrible there. Note: I just noticed, the upload worked as it did on my iPhone in Chrome.

I submitted my two issues to tech support recently, so I can't comment yet on whether Video Peel's support was able to address my issues easily and quickly or not.

As I said before, I really want to love this app and it wouldn't take much to make it a lot better in my eyes.
