Q: Bandwidth and videos being watched at the same time

I have a question about bandwidth and how many people can watch a video at the same time. Many lifetime deals make promises that don’t seem realistic long term, so I’d like to clarify how it works with VidPowr.

If I host a video on Gumlet or Vimeo, then use VidPowr for interactions and embed it on my website, whose bandwidth is used if 100 people watch at the same time—Gumlet’s, VidPowr’s, or both? My assumption is that the video stream still uses Gumlet’s bandwidth while VidPowr adds the interaction layer. Is that correct?

Also, if I host a video directly on VidPowr, is there a limit to how many viewers can watch simultaneously? I haven’t seen restrictions mentioned, so could you confirm if any apply?

A: Great questions, Sye! Let me clarify how bandwidth works with VidPowr:

When using external hosting (e.g., Gumlet, Vimeo, Dropbox, YouTube), the video playback will consume that platform’s bandwidth, while VidPowr handles the interactive layer. So yes—your assumption is correct that Gumlet/Vimeo’s bandwidth is primarily used.

When hosting directly on VidPowr there are no hard bandwidth limits on how many people can watch your videos at the same time. We’ve been running for over 5 years, and none of our users have ever reported hitting a limit. We do monitor usage for fairness, but you don’t need to worry about restrictions on normal or even high-traffic viewing.
