Q: VidPowr is retiring on March 31st, together with VidTags. What will AppSumo do?
Like many other users, I purchased high tiers of both VidPowr and VidTags. I kept both on standby in my software toolbox for when needed, so I never used them in the past few years and will have no possibility to do so moving forward, since both are retiring with a short notice.
There are an increasing number of "lifetime" deals sold on AppSumo that vanish after a way too short time, without any replacement offer or refund.
I know that "with great LTDs come great risks of losing money", but I seriously start seing a far from ideal pattern here, and was honestly hoping that AppSumo would better protect us from such dishonest situations.
Now the big questions are:
1) What is AppSumo doing in this concrete situation with VidTags and VidPowr?
2) What is AppSumo planning to avoid similar issues in the future?
Yes, that's the problem.
🤔
Many people are losing trust in Appsumo and the solutions it offers, ending up like VidPowr and VidTags.
This was being sold less than 6 months ago. They must have known then they were not sustainable. Fortunately, I refunded from the top tier as I was unhappy with a few things. I hope you guys all get treated fairly.
I also received the email announcing the shutdown of the service today. For me, this is already the seventh product I’ve purchased on AppSumo that has shut down within a couple of years. In this case, it’s $120 thrown away.
I agree that these sudden shutdowns of products sold on AppSumo are becoming far too frequent, and I’m starting to lose confidence in the level of vetting and oversight applie
