Great concept, but they're taking it to the wrong path
Vidstep got me confused.
On the one hand, the concept is great - have tutorial videos with an interface that visually support the viewer and guide him step by step.
The thing is, they're trying so hard to become a social media platform where people can upload their own tutorial videos, and have a "community" of some sort around this matter.
In my opinion, it's the wrong path.
As an agency owner that serves creators AND as a creator myself, I don't care about the other videos in the platform, and I don't care for the whole "community" aspect in this.
I only care for the interface features, which makes this some sort of an advanced video player - at least for the way I use it.
and as an advanced video player - it lacks many customization features, as well as the whole not-fully-white-labeled issue, which is a major one.
I've corresponded with Travis (the CEO, or the developer, not sure) here in the questions and elaborated on this. He requested me to send it to him by email (which I did) so we can further on this on email, but haven't heard from him since. Too bad though.
Either it's an advanced video player, or a social media platform for tutorial videos... but it can't be both at the same time. It's missing the point that way.
It's a 5 taco concept, but until they fix the above issues (if ever) and start treating the product less like a "platform" and more like a "video player", I'll keep 2 tacos on this one.
In Addition, the roadmap says "Logo in users Vidstep" by April. Well, we're in May now... and I got till the end of the month to decide whether I want to keep it or no - so possible refund here as well.
Bummer. Hope they'll get it right.

May 9, 2024Hi Yan,
You are absolutely right and please allow me to explain.
We launched Vidstep a little over 5 months ago with the intention of letting clients show and tell us what they want to use the application for. It literally has thousands of use cases, but rather than us telling people what to use Vidstep for as most technology startups tend to do, we wanted to shut up, listen and learn.
The findings have been that 85% of content is private or unlisted, with very little shared publicly and the vast majority of client types and business users, and furthermore, B2B use cases.
The public face of Vidstep as a content platform will likely cease to exist as we actually want people to use and place their own content in their own environments (where it should be). I mean really, who wants another "platform" anyway?
We are also experiencing strong interest from agency and enterprise clients (as you suggest) who want their own branded domain for either their own direct content or content they build and manage for their clients and networks.
The Vidstep team are now building private solutions for agency and enterprise requirements and AWS are working with us to provide ultra secure solutions for this purpose.
If this is what you need Yan, then please let's connect and see what we can do to now support you and your business. It's great you see it and we appreciate you support. Thanks.
