Q: Why does your extension need "Read data you copy and paste" permissions?

Very uncomfortable with these permissions from the chrome extension. Can you please explain why this specific permission is necessary?

A: We understand your concern about this permission. However, this is a standard alert that Google displays for many Chrome extensions that handle text or allow you to save content—such as transcripts or thumbnails from YouTube—for your convenience.

In reality, our extension does not access or store any of your copied data without your direct action. You do not grant VidTechy (or similar transcript extensions) extra app permissions during installation. The extension simply allows you to save YouTube ads, thumbnails, or video transcripts so you can use them within our web app.

All main processing and data handling occur securely in our web app, not inside the extension. The extension itself is limited to just these three features and does not request or access your clipboard or personal data unless you actively use a save function.

To summarize:
- The permission prompt is a standard Google alert shown to users for transparency.
- Our extension does not store or access your clipboard data without your action.
- No extra permissions are collected or required for vidtechy chrome use.
- All sensitive processing happens within our secure web app, not the extension itself.

If you have any further questions or privacy concerns, we’re happy to explain more!
