Say we go over the limit, can we at least still know the IP and location the users are coming from? Is there a mechanism to send an alert that a user visited the site?

If you go over, it will stop tracking and you'll be notified you hit your limit.
There's not currently a mechanism to send an alert when you get a new visitor
What do you mean by "it will stop tracking"? Does it mean "it will stop working completely"? Or does it mean that "it will erase the 1rst views in the list to accommodate the new ones"? Please, I would love some clarification.
It will stop tracking your site until the day your monthly pageviews get renewed (which can be seen on the my plan page).
