I've come to rely on this software since purchase and so was shocked when I was suddenly lost access. Reggie was able to make it right and we had a pleasant back-and-forth in the end. Despite the interaction with Vista Social getting off to a rocky start, I was encouraged by them wanting to make this right. I haven't had a chance to try out a lot of other social media schedulers and tools, but this one seems to check off all of the necessary boxes and is a great value.
It was not a lifetime deal. Vistasocial has disabled the posting feature to X.com for existing users who purchased a license through AppSumo, starting in October 2025, due to increased API costs. They have now made it a paid add-on.
I originally purchased the deal specifically because it allowed posting to multiple social media platforms, including X.com. However, they have now stated that this feature will no longer be available under the AppSumo lifetime deal.
If such actions are considered acceptable by AppSumo, it would be difficult to trust future lifetime deals with confidence.
Update: I was really surprised — it seems that Vistasocial canceled my LTD right after this post. This kind of behavior is hard to believe coming from a company. Are they really a professional organization, or more like a small private operation?
Was Happy With Vista Social, Until The Broke terms And Remove X/Twitter
I was very happy with Vista Social for a while. TBH, I dont post much on social and use a fraction of the features VS offers. But it sure was great using one platform, hitting submit and all were done.
Until the other day, I noticed X/Twitter missing. I look into it, and Vista Social removed it. No, not from their platform. just for LTD owners. Want it back, pay $10/m.
Now, as I understand it. With AS deals, if it's int he original offer you get it for "life". And AS deals are mapped to a similar monthly sub plan. Not only did Vista Social break terms IMO by removing a feature in the original LTD. But up charging for a feature that would be available on the mapped plan. So they have DOUBLE broken the terms lol.
TLDR; great product that is no longer great. So this review is of the software and comapny.
So, this is not at all a reflection on AppSumo, but purely a reflection on Vista Social. Hence, one taco...
Vista Social is Lying (Update: They banned my account because of this review.)
Vista Social claims that removing twitter/x posting from the LTD is justified due to a sudden increase in API cost. This is untrue, and every AS user who purchased plans that included this feature should be entitled to a refund. Here are the facts:
A month ago, X.com announced that they would be changing their terms specifically for enterprise users already paying $42k a year, to include a share of their revenue (source: https://mashable.com/article/elon-musk-x-twitter-api-revenue-share-model-change).
The last API rate hike affected the three basic tiers from last year; it is highly unlikely these are the plans Vista Social was using, based on their own statements in their recent email. ( source: https://dataconomy.com/2024/10/30/x-api-pricing-increase/)
They claim the free API plan is no longer available. This is untrue. The free API plan is still available (source: https://docs.x.com/x-api/introduction). Beyond that, VS would never have been able to use the API for free unless their users cumulatively posted less than 500 posts per month. Then, in the course of a month or two, usage skyrocketed to over 300k posts per month. Which is highly unlikely.
There are only three scenarios where these actions make sense: -They had been using the pro plan and, due to the growth of the platform, they are being required to upgrade to an enterprise plan
-They are already on an enterprise plan and don't want to give up additional revenue.
-Their financial picture is bleak; they are on the verge of failing, and this cut was needed to try to save the company.
None of these scenarios, nor any scenario short of the business shutting down, is an acceptable reason to not honor the agreement with LTD holders.
If they can't afford the bill, fine. But then they should allow users to add their own API key so that, as individuals, we can use the xAPI free account (in most cases) and not be required to make additional purchases at marked-up rates for features we already paid for.
If they are not willing to let users BYOK, honor the existing agreement, or at least be truthful in their reasoning and offer some kind of increased value for the increased expense, I see no reason why AS should defend this behavior as justified.
Update: Vista Social is actively banning LTD holders for leaving honest reviews about their unethical business practices. After I left this review, my account was banned 24 hours later. They claim I resold my LTD, which is a complete fabrication. Vista Social refuses to provide evidence of the alleged TOS violation, and although I have reached out to AS support for assistance in this matter, they have not been successful in getting my account reinstated. At this point, I just want my money back.
I was happy enough with Vista Social although admittedly have been using it less recently as I used an AI option more frequently however they are now adding monthly fees to use the Twitter/X integration which is in breach of the AppSumo Lifetime Deal which states that all social networks are included.
