First Impressions of VisualSitemaps (Update 2026-01-23)
My current assessment of VisualSitemaps after crawling a few sitemaps:
1: The user interface is modern and intuitive to use.
2: Sitemaps are incomplete unless you choose the option to crawl the XML sitemap.
3: Hiding cookie consent banners via VisualSitemaps does not work fully automatically. You have to define it manually using CSS selectors, which is a bit annoying.
4: Support responds quickly, and the documentation is extensive and kept up to date.
Update 2026-01-23:
I have to reduce my rating to 2 tacos.
Unfortunately, capturing pages with lots of animations works poorly.
Support points me to a free Chrome add-on that lets you take screenshots yourself and upload them—but that’s exactly what I wanted to avoid, which is why I bought VisualSitemaps in the first place!
Currently: 2 out of 5 tacos. 🌮🌮🌮
