Accio VivifyScrum
Let me preface this, I really want to give this a 3.5 taco rating, for some things I'll mention below that aren't deal breakers necessarily, just nitpicky on my part, but alas I rounded up to 4 tacos.
If you've felt let down or disappointed in either GitScrum or Ora, you've come to the right place.
Let's be very clear, while you can use this as a 'normal' project management tool, it is a Scrum project tool at heart. What does that mean? Well, backlogs, projects, and scrums/sprints. If you're not familiar with those processes/workflows, you might find this a bit harder to grasp initially, but don't let it detract from its power!
I'm very pleased with VivifyScrum.
It's not bloated. It cuts to the chase and does it very well.
The UI is acceptable, it feels ever so slightly dated or very...enterprisey, such that it's designed with functionality in mind, not form. I like a little more pop and modern flair, but settle when the functionality is there.
The UX is pretty solid. You have a few items in the top right of the platform that help you control your viewing experience with the majority of items in the sidebars revolving around your orgs, boards, projects, invocing and more. Hint, if you expand the org sidebar, you can star an org so that it's at the top, and then you can collapse the sidebar again for viewability.
I love this deal. It's not constricted or limited to any arbitrary limits outside of users, you can even create as many orgs as you want so you don't risk cluttering under one!
I really like how you create tasks. You can create it in a more traditional way or you can create an easily customized task by using hashtags to pick and choose the nitty gritty of the task, that's definitely more unique and is actually really enjoyable to use! Tasks stay compact by nature. Some may like this, others may not. You can click on the various facets of a task for it to pop-up so that you don't have to drill down into the task itself, it keeps things topical. That being said, sometimes we all enjoy seeing a bit more at a glance, such as Due Date. Labels and Assignees are front and center, but everything else is hidden. I would like a little more customization when it came to the viewing experience. Even Table view doesn't fix this in a meaningful way.
There's invoicing, something that was sorely missing from Ora as they had it as "planned" during their AppSumo campaign only to remove it shortly after and abandon it entirely, well, invoicing is baked into VivifyScrum!
You can either go to the "Invoicing" tab under the ORGANIZATION (it's not directly available under a board) or create one under a board via the Worklogs (all the time logged by employees/team members). Invoices are relatively basic, but they're pretty powerful. I know the AppSumo community will appreciate the many, many, MANY currencies available to use for the invoice!
Hit my character limit, moving on to some of the negatives below...
