I've been using Elevenlabs for a few years and really love it. It just keeps getting better and better and the voices and cloning are first class. So when I saw Vocallab I wasn't interested. I've kissed a lot of TTS frogs over the years and wasn't looking to replace Elevenlabs as I also use their API on a few things, so moving tools would be a problem.

But I did a deeper dive into Vocallab and figured I'd give it a shot, and figured if I'd be getting a refund within days. Boy, was I in for a surprise.

When AppSumo was billing this as an alternative to Elevenlabs they were not joking. I thought they were hyping it up, but this tool really is a fabulous alternative to the very well-established Elevenlabs. In fact, I think I'd have to say that I prefer Vocallab's AI. It just seems easier, more intuitive and more pleasant to use. Clearly they've put a LOT of thought into this.

But hey, what about the voices, as obviously that is the motherlode when it comes to a tool like this. Well, that was what made me give it a try. I had a listen to some of the samples and was super impressed. After diving in for real I designed a voice and then cloned one, and both were excellent. Surprisingly, I went with the designed voice, as it was excellent – pretty much the accent I was after.

I could write a whole essay on the feature set, as there's a lot to cover (API, markup, pauses, etc.), but my recommendation would be to do as I did and just take it for a spin.

Clearly, whoever has put this together knows what they're doing, have some serious expertise in creating this kind of tool, and judging by the quick responses when I had a question, they're a first-class company too.
