A complete localization workflow for multi-speaker videos

Disclaimer: I'm a paid product tester for AppSumo and received this tool for free to provide a detailed review. My opinions are entirely my own, and my compensation is not tied to the rating or taco score I give.

What I like about Voicina is that I can take one video through the whole localization process without moving it between several different tools.

I uploaded a video and got a full transcript with speaker labels and timestamps. From there I generated subtitles, translated them into Spanish and Arabic, and Arabic was displayed correctly from right to left. I then created a French dub with a different voice for each speaker.

That multi-speaker workflow is especially useful for interviews, podcasts and other videos where more than one person is talking. Localization is not just about translating the words. You also need to keep the speakers separate and make the dubbed version easy to follow. Voicina handled that within the same project.

The editing tools worked well too. I could correct terms with find and replace, generate a summary, and export the results as SRT, TXT and JSON. I also exported a video with the subtitles burned in, and that worked as expected.

When I first tested Voicina, there was no developer access. The team has since added an API and webhooks, which makes it more useful if you want to automate transcription or localization workflows instead of uploading everything manually.

One thing to watch is credit usage. Transcription and subtitles use relatively few credits, but dubbing and voice generation consume considerably more, especially if you're translating long videos into several languages. I would choose a tier based on how many minutes you actually expect to dub each month rather than just the amount of video you plan to transcribe.

Also, the dubbing does not alter the speaker's mouth movements to match the translated language. It keeps the original video and adjusts the dubbed speech to fit the timing instead.

Overall, Voicina solves a bigger problem for me than simply generating subtitles. I can take one video, transcribe it, translate it, create subtitles and produce a multi-speaker dub without rebuilding the project in several different applications. For anyone regularly publishing the same content in multiple languages, that is the main reason I would get it.

Hi Abe,

Thank you for such a thorough and honest review. It means a lot to have Voicina’s first review on AppSumo come from someone who tested the full workflow so carefully.

You described exactly what we set out to build: one place to take a video from transcript to subtitles to a multi-speaker dub, without jumping between tools. It’s great to hear that speaker separation and right-to-left Arabic worked well for you, and that the API and webhooks are already proving useful.

Your point about credits is a fair one, and good advice for other buyers. Dubbing uses more credits than transcription because it involves translation and voice generation for every minute and every language. Choosing a tier based on your monthly dubbing minutes is the right approach, and if you ever need more, top-up credits are available and never expire.

On lip sync, you’re right. We’re looking into adding it if there’s enough demand. To be honest, though, lip sync is very expensive to run, so it would use a lot of credits for users. Even so, if our users ask for it, we’ll move quickly to add it.

Thanks again for taking the time to test Voicina so thoroughly.
