Q: Hi, I'd like to know how unlimited GPT-4 requests work?
Their API is quite expensive, so how do you prevent users from making more than $119 in requests? I want to ensure when I buy that your tool still exists in a few months rather than going bankrupt

May 15, 2024A: Hello Dominic,
thank you for your question. Our Tier 2 comes with unlimited requests, but not unlimited GPT-4 usage. Unfortunately, that's something we can't guarantee due to a significant cost of GPT-4 at the moment and we have montly fair usage policy in place for GPT-4. Currently, our fair usage policy gives you around 300,000 words each month, but this number may change in the future.
That said, there will be other models coming to the market in the future and we believe they will offer the same quality of output for a much smaller cost. We are not trying to focus on providing a specific model, but providing great results of the output.
I hope it makes sense.
Best,
Michal

Hello, Mikhail. I wanted to ask a couple of clarifying questions about this text:
"That said, there will be other models coming to the market in the future and we believe they will offer the same quality of output for a much smaller cost. We are not trying to focus on providing a specific model, but providing great results of the output."
In view of the above, I would like to clarify, however, whether will users have the opportunity to decide for themselves which model to use.
In the sense that, for example, a free model has appeared, which will be only 5% inferior to ChatGPT, it is clear that it will be beneficial for you as a service, in this case, to switch to it in order to save a lot of money, but it is obvious that the user will not benefit from this.
I would like to ask, with the advent of new powerful free or cheap models, will users still have the opportunity to choose ChatGPT4 (and more advanced versions when they are released from OpenAI), and the same acceptable number of words in stock (as 300,000 now)?
I understand that these 300,000 may change, but it is clear that it is unlikely that this change will be from 300,000 to 50,000 for example (this will be too significant a drop in volume, which will significantly affect the benefits of the purchase). I would like to know from you at least approximately how much this volume may change in the future.
Most likely, it can be adjusted +- by 50,000\100,000 (that is, from 300,000 to 350,000\400,000 or 250,000\200,000 words... but I understand that the volume adjustment is most likely considered by you in the direction of decreasing, not increasing).
So, three questions:
1) Will the users who bought the second package still have the opportunity to choose all available models with a large volume of words (including from OpenAI), even if powerful cheap or free models appear?
2) How do you think the volume of words provided for GPT may change?
I just wouldn't want to worry about the fact that the volume of 300,000 words provided at the sales stage is a marketing campaign and that it may decrease significantly further.
3) How long do you plan to stay on AppSumo for?

Re: gypsyjazz52
Hello there,
Thank you for your questions and I understand your concerns. I’m not sure how to structure my response because there are so many questions, but let me try:
Tier 2 users will have the option to decide what model to use in the future.
Your question about the “free model” is hypothetical because there’s no such thing as a free model - but I get the point. I think it is more likely we will see models that are better and cheaper than GPT-4. We may, in the future, remove some of the models from our service, including GPT-4 if it is replaced by an objectively better model. Therefore, I can’t promise you will be able to select GPT-4 in 5 years. There will be other cutting-edge models available on the market. At the same time, I can’t promise that if GPT-5 is out and its price is 10x of GTP-4’s current price, you will get the same 300,000 words per month – I hope you understand that the math doesn’t work. I want LDT customers to benefit from new models as much as possible, but I can’t comment on something that does not even exist yet. As I said, I do believe models will be better and cheaper.
Our FUP can change both directions and I think looking at it from a long-term perspective, it will actually increase. But in order to be able to overcome a period of time when these models are still very expensive, we have to reserve the right to change it. Our FUP was modeled around the usage of our existing customers prior to the launch on AppSumo. If we see significantly different patterns in usage, we may decide to adjust it. If that happens, it definitely won’t be a reduction from 300,000 to 50,000.
A few more thoughts regarding our current limits: Most of our users don’t get anywhere close, and as long as you don’t use GPT-4 for everything, I think it should give you plenty of room every month.
One final thought – This deal is not about unlimited GPT-4, and even though I hate to say that, ChatGPT Plus will give you almost unlimited GPT-4 usage and if someone doesn’t mind typing in a separate window, I think it makes more sense to go for ChatGPT. We’re trying to create a product that is well-integrated, extendable, easy to use and helps you be more productive, but it has some limitations.
We will be on AppSumo for a few more weeks.
I hope this answers your questions!
Thanks again!
Michal
