Sold out

You have a great idea for a web or mobile app that would take your business to the next level. (“It’s like Tinder, but for pizza topping compatibility.”)

But you're tired of drowning in code when you could be pushing your awesome product. Or you’re not a developer and don’t want to spend the time, money, effort hiring one, either.

You need an end-to-end platform that lets you create beautiful, effective apps fast—with or without coding.

Say hello to Webcat.

TL;DR

too long didn't read
Design, develop, and deploy amazing apps and websites with or without coding
Alternative to: Bubble.io
Easily create and collaborate on an end-to-end platform without sacrificing functionality or design
Best for: Designers, developers, and small businesses that want to create quality web or mobile apps in way less time

Overview

Webcat is an end-to-end, collaborative app builder that empowers devs and designers to quickly create web and mobile apps.

Use Webcat’s canvas feature to get cracking on the design process as soon as inspiration strikes, effortlessly making responsive designs with the intuitive interface.

You can even make it a group effort by inviting collaborators to edit your apps in real time.

After deploying your app to a custom domain or app store, you can see your changes live on the published app without having to refresh or update.

Plus, Webcat lets you save and publish different versions of your app, so you can roll back any time.

The tool makes prototyping easy, too, letting you focus on new ideas, designs and functionality.

Webcat’s canvas editor

Create responsive designs in no time with Webcat’s intuitive canvas!

Webcat puts all your data in one place while making it easy to manage.

After connecting your apps to the database, you can choose from different smart field types, make changes with the content editor, and customize your tables to be as simple or complex as you want.

You can also control who can read, create, update, or delete records, and visitors will see every update in real time.

With CSV and JSON file importing and exporting, you’ll have all the data you need—where you need it most.

Database table view

Use the table view to organize and display all of your data in one place.

No need to outsource crowd control either, because you can manage your users right on Webcat.

Register users, send password resets, and email verification links—all integrated right into the database for easy tracking.

Want more than just an email or IP address? With Webcat, you can customize what kind of user data you store, plus who can record, edit, or delete it.

Depending on a user’s authentication status, you can choose to show and hide certain content on your app or website, too.

Users dashboard

The user dashboard lets you quickly reset passwords, email verification links, and more!

If you’ve got programming skills, Webcat offers even more options.

Bring your app to the next level with Webcat Functions and Webcat API, extending your project with custom back-end code.

You can run your backend logic securely by creating Webcat Functions in NodeJS, or invoke custom responses to specific database events.

Use the Webcat API to integrate your project data with external servers or existing apps, while saving on time with code-completion.

Backend database code

Extend your project with custom back-end code for the tech-savvy.

Making an app shouldn’t take months of development and years of technical know-how. (“My business management degree did not account for all of these functions and strings.”)

Webcat gets you from idea to app fast, with a wide range of tools to easily build, manage, and collaborate on projects.

It’s time to make your app happen.

Q: Are you considering coming back to appsumo?

When you launched your app didn't work and was super slow. I see that has improved and would love to buy and use your app now

Q: When building "real world" applications, I need far more than "basic" security...

and keeping users from accessing a form... based on a role.

What I need is row level security....

For example:

Users can only see their rows... and they cannot see other users' rows.

Managers can see their rows and their team members' rows...

Administrators can see all the rows...

This has been a requirement for every web app I've built over the past two decades...

Is this possible with Webcat? If not, when do you anticipate it will be added?

Thanks!

A: Hi, Thanks for reaching out!

We know that data security is very important for every project so we’re working on more advanced security rules beyond our current offering.

Our plan, based on our roadmap, is to release role based security rules around the first half of 2022 so you can create user roles and delegate access depending on each users role.

Regarding the row based security rules, I also think that’s a great feature to have. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll talk about it with our team so we can include it in our roadmap.

Best,

Daniel

Q: Hi, please explain to a layman: 1.

In practice, that means 4 canvases per project and unlimited pages per canvas.

2.In practice, what does X domains per project mean?

3.Do you have any demo apps?

4.Do the generated applications have access to local resources such as GPS, Camera, etc. from the smartphone?

5.Is coding knowledge necessary to use Webcat?

6.How would you compare to Appgyver and Bubble?

Thanks!

A: Hi,

1. Yes, that's exactly what it means.

2. The tiers come with a defined number of domains, but in the very unlikely case you need more domains to the ones included can always purchase more.

3. Yes you can find Webapp done on Webcat on or home page

4. Yes they do.

5. It's not needed but it helps a lot if you have basic tech concepts or coding knowladge

6. Bubble is more limited in functionalities and services, but I would say has a flatter learning curve because of its modular approach. I don't know much about Appgyver so I can't comment on them.

Q: Hi, 1.

It is not clear to me. Are we talking about the mobile apps to be published in App Store and Google Play? Or the web apps for login in the saas product?

2. If it's a mobile app why are they being published on Webcat URL instead of being published in the app stores?

3. And what about websites? You can build sites too? What kind of sites?

4. What is a project and why do I need 4 domains per project?

5. What's MAU?

Can you build a business site and a mobile app for that business?

Thank you!

A: Hi, egor,

Below you'll find our answers to your questions:

1. We are talking about both. You can have a stand-alone web application and you can have (export and publish) versions of that Webapp as Mobile Apps in the AppStore or GooglePaly Store.

2. Only Webapps get published on a Webcat or custom URL if a customer so wishes, some enterprise applications do not get published at all. Clearly only Mobile Apps get published through the App Stores. The publishing however is on part of the user, we just allow of the user to export the App as a file, that then gets uploaded to the different stores. If the MobileApp is connected to a canvas that gets modified on Webcat then the Mobile App updates itself with out the admin having to upload a new version of the app to the store. Only in cases when the store publishing guidelines change or we make major updates is it required to upload a new version of the MobileApp to the stores.

3. Absolutely, any kind of website you can dream of.

4. A project where you'll find the different modules (Canvas, Data, Brain, Auth, etc.) so that you can create, connect, administer your Web or MoblieApps. You don't need to use 4 domains, you might just need one, we are just giving you 4, just in case you need them.

5. Monthly Active Users

Yes, you can absolutely build a business site and a mobile app for that site all in one place.

Best,

AJM

Q: Hello, have been mulling over this for a while and I have some questions: We're linked to the Pro plan - ...

does that mean that even though some of the inclusions differ between tiers (e.g. website views, MAUs etc), others are the same across all plans, notably:
Downloads 40k files
Stored data 10GB
Database reads 5m
Database writes 200k
Total records 50k
Tables 20
Brain execution time 25k secs
Brain invocations 75k
Project bandwidth 25GB
Cron jobs 1 with 25k secs execution time and 20k invocations
Logs 100k

If they are the same across the board, the benefit of the larger plans may be hamstrung as we reach these limits much faster?

Additionally is work ongoing on improving page load speeds and responsiveness? I have been checking your website and the example sites over the past few weeks as your new backend has been released and they have remained not as fast as I'd hoped. Running GT metrix on your main site for example gives an E rating

A: Hi! Thanks for reaching out.

You make a really good point about the tier structure and the plan limits so we'll discuss your feedback about this with the team.

Regarding the speed improvements, we released an improved backend with better caching and a global CDN during the past months. However, we're also working on a new version of the frontend compiler which we have rebuilt from scratch with speed and SEO in mind, following the web.dev guidelines. This new compiler is taking a bit longer to be released but will definitely be available before the end of this year.
