Amazing potential -- stack worthy
Yes this tool has had a slow start, part of it due to the team not anticipating the firehose of sumoling traffic and inquiries -- already mostly remedied -- but mostly because of the nature of the tool: this is NOT something that will yield results with the push of a button, it is not plug and play, but that's not a bug, it's a feature.
If you have recurring client work and recurring deliverables, you're probably looking for plug and play ways to add value or power to your stack.
This might not be helpful then (though it MIGHT, if you want to build a custom portal for your clients -- though there are other PM tools better suited for that).
If you have a complex project, maybe even a SAAS idea buzzing in your head -- your big whale of a client with a quarter mill budget, or your own startup, then this is an AMAZING way to accelerate your launch schedule of an MVP and even grow beyond an MVP.
Compared to Directual, which is also a kick-ass deal, it comes with
--considerably more generous usage limits for the upper tiers
--both back end and front end building options (though I would NEVER waste page views for front end, I'd only use this for back end)
--ability to wrap the project into a native iOS / Android app at a stupid cheap fee of ~$15/mo
--the ability to export your code down the road, if the platform doesn't serve your needs beyond an MVP, so you don't have to start from scratch
You can set up complex logic, with its functions and brain modules, and really interconnect with everything else via its API.
Even if you don't have a use case for it now, I strongly recommend getting it as it would be one piece of shelfware that, provided the company is solvent, will only appreciate on the shelf. I already have a use case for it (something very complex for an enterprise client that would require a crazy dev investment otherwise) so it's paying off. I will say, WebCat team, please invest in end-to-end tutorials for every module of the platform, as it won't help you just with your appsumo launch, but with all future users -- your platform is incredibly powerful and well thought out, but it's not exactly no code: it's ALMOST no code, but most of the time LOW-code, and it's essential to bridge that gap for the users. But even if you hire a developer to put it all together for you, you'd still be saving tens of thousands at least on the full dev resources needed to get big projects off the ground in the absence of such useful scaffolding.
Give this deal a chance and thank me later. I'm still exploring the toolset and mind is abuzz with possibilities -- also chatted with the founder re: my use case and he's extremely helpful and passionate about his product.
And if you don't see the potential, heck, refund button is always there. But trust me, once you see what you can do with it, you won't be trigger happy.
