Can we move our websites in Webstarts to other hosting services and/or export it or not?

May 14, 2024A: Oops, it looks like someone forgot to remove that. We used to allow people to export their site files. You've probably seen me writing about when responding to the question.
In light of so many people asking for that ability again I'm tempted to bring it back, otherwise I'll have someone remove that from the FAQ.
The big problem with allowing people to export their files is that they're a little non-conforming because of the absolute positioning. So when someone goes to put them on a new host they rarely know how to do it. We provide them instructions, but it's too technical for a lot of our users.
Then we end up in this awkward situation where someone wants to try going to the cheapest hosting they found on the web and want us to get their site to work on it. Even though they're openly saying they're not going to be our customer. It just doesn't end up being a good experience for the user.

Thank you for your honest and prompt reply.
But what about Summolings like us that will use your platform LTD but would like the flexibility to export and/or transfer specific sites to our own hosting services. I have about 500 websites in different Hosting Services.
Can you compromise by adding a disclaimer that you will allow export of websites and only provide instructions on how to set up in the new hosting server but no other technical support will be provided.

I'll talk to my team about bringing it back. We did try solving it with a policy like you mentioned in the past. Maybe it's something we only provide to Designers. As you can imagine these things become time consuming with a novice.
