Q: As a designer turned creative agency, I’ve always used Webflow for myself and my clients.
So seeing an alternative on the market is exciting, if successful. I have been a top tier early adopter via AppSumo to TeleportHQ which boasted a similar alternative with a disappointing outcome to not release a lot of the features promised. This is why I am excited yet hesitant, get this deal right away.
A couple questions:
1. As a lot of designers tend to pre-design their layouts in Figma these days the introduction of the Figma to Webflow plugin has been a much needed tool for web design. Is this something you are looking to offer in the future?
2. As you know Webflow’s “flex box” is their bread and butter towards offering quick responsiveness of their websites. Do you have a flex box option in your UI?
3. This is a huge one, and I already know you address this on your website a bit most of the projects I create for myself and my clients are big data driven map CMS websites
in Webflow.
4. What frustrates me with Webflow is their 10k CMS limit, and their enterprise CMS increase is unrealistic for small businesses to afford. I like Webflow’s CMS for their SEO functionality, but in order to accommodate the limits I’ve used Airtable with Make.com or Whalesync, and more recently Supabase.
I know that you are going backend-less which is very appealing based on everything I mentioned above. But as I am trying to implement this right now with both Webflow CMS and Supabase I find it very frustrating implementing an outside data source that isn’t responsive as it would be with a Collections table.
The question for this one would be if I am pulling in data from an outside source how
easy will it be edit the style sheets and make it responsive as if it was in a Collections
table? And would I be able to sync the data natively if through a form in Webstudio
without having to use a third party software like Make.com or Whalesync?
5. Do you plan to offer anything in terms of authentication for membership websites? Webflow has its “Users” which I don’t use, I’ve used Wized and Memberstack. I even opted to start using GlideApps as my authentication but now that they are adjusting their pricing to enterprise it’s unaffordable.

- Yes. We have confirmed working on tailwind and webflow imports, we will also be looking into figma. Once it has been scoped and confirmed it will get added to the roadmap.
2. As you know Webflow’s “flex box” is their bread and butter towards offering quick responsiveness of their websites. Do you have a flex box option in your UI?
- Yes, the UI is very similar to webflows :)
3. This is a huge one, and I already know you address this on your website a bit most of the projects I create for myself and my clients are big data driven map CMS websites

- uh, sorry I think I missed the question here.

- So with webstudio, you'll be able to use anything as a cms without needing additional integration work like whalesync/zapier/pabbly etc. We won't impose a limit on the amount of dynamic items you can have. You could use supabase to house everything. Here's an example: https://youtu.be/2MrkfnjYuCo?feature=shared

- Yes, this should already be possible with bindings, we have not yet tested this. Once we do I'll create a tutorial like I did for supabase. I think you can expect this in the next 30days.

Hi Alex, thank you for your answers. The video you provided showing Supabase is a gamechanger for what I was trying to achieve in Webflow either by javascript or via Wized. What you are doing w/ Webstudio eliminates me having to use either which is great for scalability. I would like to see where you go with authentication if it's just using Supabase w/ gated content. The only other follow up questions I have is:
1. What are you offering in place of search/filtering functionality ie: in webflow in the implementation of Finsweet Attributes? For what I build I can't just pull in 1000s of "testimonials", my users will need to be able to filter the data. Do you plan on offering internal filtering ie: dropdowns and radio buttons? Or perhaps Finsweet works with your software?
2. Additionally, is there any advantage for me to sign up for an account on your homepage vs. AppSumo they seem to be different deals? Or no.

- We have some basic filtering live with more to come planned in the next update. I'll need to check with the team on details here.

- The only difference between the two are really in terms of pageviews and connected domains. Features are the same on both sides :)
