Q: I'm thrilled to see this app available!
Before I make a decision, I have a few questions. Firstly, can I export the HTML files or website project to transfer it to another FTP server? Secondly, can I create complex pages without having to purchase additional addons? Many web builders are rendered useless until you spend extra money on addons. And finally, do I need to possess knowledge of HTML/CSS, PHP, and JAVA in order to achieve the best results with this app? Some apps market themselves as "code-free," but in reality, you still need to know and utilize coding to fully maximize their potential.

Firstly, can I export the HTML files or website project to transfer it to another FTP server? No, Webstudio produces dynamic apps not static sites. This is to be able to create truly scalable, high performing sites/webapps. You can export and self host the dynamic app anywhere you want and this won't count towards your plan limits. We have built-in integrations with Vercel and Netlify to self host projects, other hosts will need to be migrated to manually.
Secondly, can I create complex pages without having to purchase additional addons? Yes. We do plan to introduce a plugin marketplace this year but will always be feature complete on our own. I'd suggest taking a look at some of our community made sites to get a better idea of what can be made with Webstudio. I'll link them below.

Just like a good video game, easy to adopt, hard to master. We want anyone to be able to jump in and get started, but we want to maintain a high skill ceiling too, otherwise you would just outgrow the platform. There are definitely benefits to knowing how code works (even if you don't know how to code), the same applies to design fundamentals. But, you can get started without any coding skills and use Webstudio as a platform to upskill.
From a difficulty POV, it's comparable with webflow. Visually translating code.

Thank you for your honest answers. Just to clarify, when you mentioned "export and self host," does that mean I can use my own hosting provider and upload the exported files? It's great to know that a marketplace is coming, but I'm also glad to hear that the platform can function independently from the marketplace. This is truly fantastic news. Regarding the "no code" question, my intention was to explore the possibility of involving individuals who have no coding experience in certain projects. I have been working in web development for over 20 years, and I was intrigued by the idea of a "no code" platform. However, I am now thrilled to discover the immense power of Webstudio. I have been a fan since its introduction and wanted to clarify some details before making my decision.
The page speed of the sites is rather abysmal, especially on mobile which is the most important metric. Considering most of the sites are rather simple, it does not bode well for more complex sites. Your opinion?
Most sites perform at 90 lighthouse score, some are less optimized, some more, we will be adding more optimizations, but even as it stands today there is nothing faster on the market.

Yes, although we export the complete webapp, not just static files. We have self hosting integrations live for Vercel and Netlify, I'm sure more platforms will come in the future too.

Yeah I'd say sign up for a free account and take things for a spin. Webstudio is a great platform for getting into the webdesign space as everything is really visually translating code. So you keep the same web fundamental skills that can be transferred anywhere else :)
