If you have ever worked at a Fortune 500 company you will recognise the features with Optimize
So, some years ago I approved a $120K spend to one of the top 5 consultancies for a multivariate testing tool. And I needed two tech people next to me make the simplest of test. And a team on the other side with excruciatingly boring weekly meetings to get it set-up.
As technology would have it - there has been some improvements in usability. There are also some cheap/free workarounds like tools like switchy which will allow you to swap out whole URL's and then build out alternatives yourself and then change elements on the page. So with the first step you can do a simple A/B and then switching out elements you can do some kind of multivariate. But time consuming and difficult to maintain.
Full disclosure I am not a fan of the google business model. Which I will loosely translate to "I use my money to test their tools and then people with loads of cash pay money to use the tool and get the knowledge that I built up." So no surprise that I don't like the google optimize tool for the simple reason it is not designed to help me. Its designed to help me spend money on google - (URL targeting, Google Analytics Audiences targeting, Behavior targeting, Geo targeting, Technology targeting, JavaScript variable targeting bla bla bla). My opinion, with 20 years of marketing with serious money, Google has the wrong model. They are all about chasing the user, where I 1) think who I might like, 2) go after them, 3) see how they react and then optimize for what I think they will like because of what I saw them do and then 4) spend more money to validate with new people."
I get that its the google model. But as a marketeer I have other cheaper ways to do segmentation. And that is the model from Optimize. The concentrate on YOUR pages and YOUR messaging and allow to make copies in 30 seconds of highly complicated ecommerce pages and then depending on your criteria allow you to make meta and micro changes to optimize at hyper-speed. Choose who you advertise with. You can build pages, segment yourself easily, retarget here and have everything really neatly stored with WYSIWIG ease. Can you do that with google sure, if you know what you are doing. But for many new entrepreneurs they would not even know to try. Optimize knows how to handle returning visits
There is an old saying in Marketing "Spend your money once, fool" Optimize is trying to cut your costs, they have an extremely nice tool here and because they are used to serving big companies with big needs, gave some extremely nice limits to the appsumo community.
So if you have ever worked for a big company and your marketing department was serious, you will know some of what this tool can do, but you could never imagine it was available for $59 at Appsumo. Yes I needed support 1 time, they responded within the hour on a weekend and got me past the sign up hurdle. But oh my goodness I have not needed a manual since. This thing ROCKS.
Really if you want to save money - this is a cannot miss deal.
