I have been in the ad-tech and e-commerce industry for many years and three years ago I decided to build a product to help me automate my back-office work. I was spending hours chasing after receipts and invoices for my business’ books + making sure I wasn’t missing any tax or VAT refunds. I felt I was spending so much time on back-office tasks instead of growing my business or spending time with my kids. So I started building WellyBox with my partner. The initial goal was simple – by the end of each month I wanted to click a button and have all my invoices and receipts from all of our business inboxes ready to be sent to our loyal bookkeeper. No fancy features, no crazy UIs – just a simple button that will do these chores automatically for me + make sure I am not leaving money on the table (especially if it’s the taxman’s table). As always, things took x10 more time than I anticipated. We started with naive “regular expressions'' (bring me all email with the keyword “Bill” – flooded the system with all newsletters mentioning Bill Gates’ latest thoughts on waterless toilets) and today we have a deep-learning engine assisted by GPT-3 AI. After we completed building the product – No UI – just a big button saving us two full days every month, some of our friends who heard about the system asked us to use it as well. That was the day we started the company. So, what’s our vision today? Got a receipt/invoice/bill you need for any of your bookkeeping/report? WellyBox will find it for you automatically and upload it to the system’s dashboard. Connect all your organization’s digital mediums (inboxes, cloud storage, wherever you think these documents may be found) and we’ll do all the heavy lifting for you.
