Q: GDPR Compliance and use of our users' data

Hi Rubyat,
Not only are you not, GDPR compliant at the moment, but your terms of service are for the most very confusing : when a user adds their information in a form on our websites, they are redirect to your app.wemail.com site that demands a confirmation. On, that website, your terms of service claim full ownership and right to use and redistribute this info. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE NO-GO for anyone who wants to respect their users' private information, how can we be sure you are not absorbing all those emails ? Where are the guarantees you are not transfering the data outside of Europe (Singapour based company) ? Who do you share our info with ? No mention of duration for our data being kept on your servers... So there is still a lot to improve before this service becomes legitimate.

A: Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We take user privacy and compliance very seriously, and I’d like to provide clarity on the points you’ve raised.

GDPR Compliance: WeMail is actively working to maintain and enhance compliance with GDPR regulations. All user data is processed with strict adherence to privacy laws, and we are committed to transparency and security.

Terms of Service and Data Ownership: While our Terms of Service aim to outline our responsibilities, we understand how the current wording may seem unclear. Please rest assured that WeMail does not claim ownership of your data. All the information collected through your forms remains your property, and we only process it as directed by you. We do not use or redistribute this data for any purpose other than what is explicitly allowed by our users.

Data Location and Sharing: Our primary data center is located in Germany, and we do not transfer your data outside Europe without proper compliance measures, such as standard contractual clauses. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to deliver our services.

Data Retention Policy: We understand the importance of clarity regarding data retention and are working to update our documentation to include clear timelines for how long data is kept on our servers.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion our current processes or documentation may have caused. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve both our services and communication. If there are additional concerns or specific improvements you’d like to see, please let us know—we’d be happy to address them.

Thank you for your patience as we work to make WeMail better for all users.
