How does credit works? It seems like when I type in 1 question after creating a project (under the add search column), I can literally see that the credits used keeps on increasing even though the column is still loading. After loading, it uses like 7 credits just for 1 question. I have not done anything much and it uses up 27 credits.
A: Hi Lewis, sorry about this issue. We're still facing problems with the credit system for some users. I will forward your message directly to my technical co-founder—thanks for the detailed description.
In the meantime, could you please email me at support@readwonderds.com with your associated email and I will take a deeper look & add more credits while we work on a fix.
A: Hi Opal, thanks for your questions. Our workspace specializes in speeding up and improving the quality of literature retrieval and processing.
1) Finding research gaps — you can achieve this by setting up multiple searches with the right filters and sorting. As of now it is more of a manual process. We'll be building specific tools for this in the future. Adding a vote for this to our roadmap.
2) We don't currently support annotated bibliographies, but it's a great idea! Adding to our roadmap.
3) We're not especially focused on writing outputs. For us they're more means to an end (except for business use). I'd point you to tools that already do an amazing job at this—like Grammarly or Jasper.ai
4) Yes, bibliography is automatically generated for the sources you find on Wonders. We do support APA format.
A: Hi, not at the moment. We will be working on PDF upload and scanning in future versions, table and formula extraction are valuable and we'll be considering the different needs, but I don't have an exact timeline for these features yet. Here's our full roadmap, in case that helps! https://roadmap.readwonders.com/
Just to confirm, your current sources of research contents will not be able to incorporate any online data, tables and formulas? How would this tool help me for any scientific related topics which requires access to these types of data for intepertation?
Hi Dlee, thanks for your follow-up question. To clarify:
1) Our sources will contain data, tables, and formulas as it is published scientific literature. 2) Our strength is currently in literature retrieval and management (we have features for review, like highlighting, but are still working on PDF processing) 3) We're working on PDF full-text use, which will include tables, etc.

Q: Wonders vs Consensus?
Your unlimited tier would cover about 5 years of my Consensus current subscription. How do you compare and what makes Wonders much better than Consensus to entice us?
A: Great question—Consensus is a solid tool for pulling fast summaries from academic papers. Wonders goes deeper: we guide you through the full research process—searching across multiple sources, organizing findings in visual boards, synthesizing with AI, and exporting polished outputs. It’s built for when you need more than a quick answer—when you’re doing actual research work, not just browsing conclusions given by typical chat- or summarization- based systems.
That said, Wonders is also really fast. You can conduct a robust lit-rev in just 5-minutes, while having much more control over the system than with Consensus.
Do you have comprehensive documentation or instructional videos available that thoroughly demonstrate how to effectively utilize all features and options of your product? not talking about just showcasing your product but how to really use it with all it's options...
We have text tutorials available here: help.readwonders.com And a comprehensive video tutorial here: https://help.readwonders.com/en/article/video-getting-started-with-wonders-t37rfa/?bust=1746291877888
Q: DOES RESOURCE INCLUDE MEDICAL DIRECTLY RELATED TO VETERANS MEDICAL RESEARCH?
Hello, I noticed your application and was impressed by the extensive resource section it offers. I would like to inquire whether your research capabilities include medical-related resources. Specifically, I am interested in medical research concerning veterans, particularly related to combat-related injuries and illnesses. If this is not currently supported, would it be possible to incorporate additional sites as resources? This would enable your app to search these sites for relevant keywords and include that information in the search results.
A: Hi PDF upload & reading has been our #1 request since launching this week. We'll be prioritizing this soon. Probably we'll have an early version in the coming 2-3 weeks.
Our full roadmap is here: roadmap.readwonders.com but I'm working on a condensed version & will send to all AppSumo buyers soon.
Thanks for your reply. I can't wait for the new PDF reader. I would like you to check this extension at https://www.themoonlight.io/en for the reference.
Yes, research results can be exported into PDF, DOCX, or LaTeX. We will also be introducing publishable links in the future.
Q: Follow-Up Questions About Teams and Individuals
Hi,
When the team uses collaborative workspaces and project boards, is it possible to add only the desired team members as needed, instead of having the entire team automatically included? (I haven't purchased it yet; this is one of my evaluation criteria.)
A: Hi again bestpika, I have to say, I appreciate your thorough evaluation and questions. It's really helping us understand what we need to clarify in our listings and features.
About team members: Yes, you can invite specific people individually. But you do have the option to automatically include any folks who sign up with your domain.
Additionally, as an Owner or Admin you have full control over members. You can remove them at any point to free up their slot.
A: Hi M.Kh, 👋 Good question! Afforai is a great tool for research, and definitely in the same category.
The key difference is that we really focus on the end-to-end workflow—bringing the key steps of the research process into a single view, with AI guidance along the way.
1) Single view for the entire research—We're still a very early stage company and product, but we're working very closely with our users—from students, doctoral supervisors, to professional researchers—to build the most efficient research workflow available. We believe that our unique workflow will enable users to finish a complete high-quality literature review in one view in just a couple of minutes.
2) Guided steps with AI—wonders guides you along the way, making suggestions for topics, keywords, search strategy that copies the steps of an experienced researcher. All the steps are transparent and completely controllable, which is not the case with their chatbot-based systems.
3) More sources—we search 500M+ sources from academic papers, to technical literature and patents.
4) Collaborate—all your projects can be shared with individuals or in teams, making it much easier to work with clients, supervisors, or research colleagues.
They've been around a bit longer, and built a great tool, but I'd say our approach is very unique and much more naturally aligned with how research works. I'm personally very excited for where we're headed & think it'll unlock a lot of value for many use-cases.
Hi! I've noticed the citations are sometimes in DOI (without the domain?). Also when exporting it cites from: it gives numbers in the text (Vancouver style) but the reference list is in APA (or any other similar citation), so with author names only. Is this a bug or am I hallucinating more than an LLM? When asking a question the AI will combine search terms automatically using 'OR', while in many search cases 'AND' would be a better fit (using PICO format). Any chance to add this as a default option?
While researching this service, I found that it wasn't originally like what it is now. This service originally seemed to be aimed at K-12.

A: Hi bestpika, so fun you were exploring our early journey.
We started Wonders about 2 years back, and since explored several different markets and angles. Seeing how the educational market could benefit from AI technology, and building on our experiences in this space, we eventually arrived here. Wonders initially was an AI magazine aiming to popularize science, then we built an ed-tech focused tool for different markets (including a brief excursion into K-12), and then started focusing on higher-value use-cases in professional and higher-ed settings, building the product you're enjoying now.
There's a lot more on this path to discover and build—ultimately, this is about managing and making useful the world's most trustworthy knowledge... and supporting the creation of more of it.
It's a great idea to write a blog about our journey, I think we'll get to it at some point in the near future, alongside more active presence and published case-studies which we're preparing right now.
Hope that helps shed a bit of light on our history & thanks for the fun question!
1) Will this tool also work with uploaded documents? I need an AI tool to help me write literature reviews. So, I'm looking to upload PDFs of peer-reviewed papers that I've selected (at least 20 sources for each literature review topic). I need to work specifically with the papers I've selected, but Google Scholar is also an option in case I need to find additional sources.
2) Is this tool able to cite the sources where it got the information from, while also providing page numbers? My main concern with AI is that it tends to hallucinate, so I worry about the accuracy of the information. It would be too time-consuming for me to manually cross-check everything, so it's important that page numbers are provided for each piece of information (or at least some way that highlights exactly where the info came from).
A: Hi Opal, thanks for sharing your questions. In both cases this is something that's been heavily requested and we're working on it. We expect to have first updates on this in the coming weeks.
1) This is our #1 request. We'll be prioritizing PDF upload as the next feature.
2) As an academic myself, I recognize how important this is—and it is the fundamental reason why we're building Wonders. We're working on ways to precisely pinpoint where quotations come from. The ETA is probably similar to the PDF upload.
A: Hi, the differences are that personal workspaces cannot be shared, whereas collaborative ones can have other people join to create search projects and leave comments.
A: Hi again, fair totally question—Patent search is currently an early-stage feature. So it won't do much more than Google Patents. The main benefit right now is that you could have multiple such searches next to each other.

Congratulations and good work.
A: Hi there, thanks so much for checking out Wonders and believing in our mission!
Oh, Andy's channel is gold! Thanks for sharing this comparison, I will comb through it in detail later.
Our main difference is our focus on empowering people of any research skill level to do a great research. We have a very unique workflow that breaks down the research process from question, through guided exploration, and synthesis.
So basically, we have a very different take on what tools like these should look like to balance AI support, transparency, and control.
What do you plan to use Wonders for? And how can we build the best tool for you?
Q: Do you have a video to show us how to utilise this tool best along with all its features and benefits?
What does it mean that "New users who sign up with these email domains will automatically join your company?" And is this part also unlimited for the top tier? Will the workspaces have folders too one day? How much longer before you add a French, German, Spanish, and Japanese available Dashboard? Members can edit but can clients comment (unlimited clients)? TY
A: Hi, we're working on a video walkthrough. Should be live tomorrow.
1. Joining company—there are two options: a) Manually add each customer b) Automatically add anyone joining with your company domain (like kim@acme.com if your company domain is acme.com). Yes, it is part.
2. We currently treat workspaces as sort of "folders", but may rethink this system in the future. How would you want to use these folders exactly?
3. I think we will be exploring the multiple-languages features in the next month.
4. We actually don't support public sharing yet, but we will have a feature where you can publish the research results. It could be possible to add comments. How exactly would you want to collaborate with clients?
Within the 500M sources we can access, there will be a percentage that can only be accessed behind a paywall. What’s the percentage that are free and those that require payment to access and download?
A: Hi Sheldon, about 30% of the scientific literature is currently OpenAccess. According to most organizations between 38-50% of recent research is published as OA (Scopus, Deltathink). This varies by country and domain, but in general the trend has been towards more OA every year.
Patents are all openly accessible.

Q: How Seat Works
Hi,
May I ask how the Team's seat works?
How do I assign seats to others?

May 7, 2025A: Hi—great question!
Team seats are assigned to a Company. So each higher Tier will come with Company seats which can be shared between users.

NB: Project Boards and Shared Workspaces can also have people join, but they will need their own accounts.

Q: Are these tasks currently possible?
I'd like to know if this tool can help me with any of these tasks:
1) Can it help me find a research gap based on sources I have selected, and then assist me to come up with a suitable title for my literature review?
2) Can it help me write an annotated bibliography for each of my sources? (150 to 300 words per source)
3) Can it write in my voice? Can it take a piece of writing and rewrite it in my voice?
4) Can it automatically create citations in APA style from sources I provide it with, so I won't have to do it manually?
Thank you
