Q: I've been using the tool for awhile now and recently upgraded so that I would get more words.

However, I ran some of my articles through originality.ai and NONE of them passed with more than 10% originality (likely the 6-8% was achieved because I edit the articles).

Are you updating the tool to pass AI detection?

A: We originally updated Wordplay in Feb/March to pass AI detection tools. It still passes most, but specifically Originality.ai changed their algorithm which made it a bit more difficult to get around.

The new steps needed to pass their new algorithm had a pretty large tradeoff of generally being less readable and worse quality.

During our R&D, it felt a bit like a see-saw. The more we'd pass AI detection, the worse the quality of the article. The better and more readable the article, the less it would pass AI detection.

We're probably going to skip the AI detection workaround right now as it seems more just like a cat & mouse game to try to trick the detectors. Even if we trick the detection tools, it still at it's core is created by AI. It's not like Google is using the same algo as originality.ai if they are even detecting AI content at all (which they explicitly have said they don't penalize for this).

It feels a bit like a time-suck compared to other features that improve readability, create better quality content, increase SEO scores, etc. Maybe in the future we'll implement some sort of toggle for people who prefer to pass the detection tools vs create better quality content (or if we find some other sort of workaround), but it's not at the top of the priority list for us currently

All that being said, our new release of Wordplay 4.0 which should be in the next week or two will see higher Originality scores in general because the content is more dynamic with lists, more subheadings, etc. but it's not our main goal that we're going after.

Hope that gives some clarity there

YES it does! Thank you for your thoughtful response. Wordplay is DEFINITELY the BEST AI writing tool that I've used. I write about a particular technical issue (of which there is a lot of bad info on the internet) and Wordplay has the LEAST amount of editing I need to do. Thanks again.
