hubstaff replacment
I use hubstaff to employee and projec time for a small web dev team. I don't have a lot of needs, and don't use hubstaff's full feature set, but worktivity does everything I need, and some of it even better than hubstaff.
in particular, the way it tracks users idle time, and "productive" vs "unproducitve" app or website usage is much more accurate and detailed than hubstaff.
actually using it to track your time is a bit nicer too. one click to start a new task/project or switch between them.
Pros:
+ tracks employee time
+ tracks project/task time
+ super easy to use
+ support was quick to respond to questions
+ very easy to set up
+ really detailed time tracking
+lets you very easily see all the apps and websites users are using and designate which ones are productive or not.
+ lets me very easily see if my employees are being productive at a very granular level, without going through lots of screenshots - although I can if I want to
+reporting is much nicer UI than hubstaff
+overal UI is nicer
Cons:
- no webhook or API integrations yet. for example, hubstaff will give me slack alerts when my employees start or stop. maybe worktivity will do this in the future. the API is under development.
- project or employee finances aren't shown (only hours), although this is on their roadmap
- it has a feature for "expected work hours" but it's global. for my company, it depends on the employee, so that's not very useful for me. but hubstaff didn't do this for me either.
- hubstaff has an alert about idle time, which is nice because I might walk away for lunch and forget to stop the timer. the alert allows me to basically remove the mistaken idle time with a click when I get back to my computer. Worktivity tracks idle time, but doesn't remove it. so if an employee does this, they might actually want to remove their mistaken idle time, but I don't think they'd be able to. I worry my guys will be nervous if this happens, because then it will show them as having a large amount of idle time, but really it was just an oversight.
- maybe some other smaller features of hubstaff that I never used aren't contained here
Bottom Line: it's rare that a deal will 1:1 replace a current subscription of mine. this does just that. I'm ditching hubstaff for good. Incredible value here, if anything it's priced too low hah.
