Hey Sumo-lings 👋
Lars here, founder of WP Security Ninja.
First off - thank you for all the feedback, bug reports, and feature suggestions. Many of the improvements we’ve shipped recently came directly from conversations with Sumo-lings.
Since our last update we’ve released 20+ plugin updates, focusing on stability, performance, and several highly requested features.
🔥 Highlights since our last update
Here are some of the biggest improvements we've shipped recently.
🛡️ Improved malware scanner
The malware scanner has received several upgrades to make it faster and more reliable.
Recent improvements include:
• Faster scans with clearer progress feedback
• Scheduled malware scans running reliably in the background
• Ability to exclude trusted folders to prevent false positives
• Easier scan management and clearer results
🔐 Stronger firewall protection
We’ve continued strengthening the firewall to stop real-world attack patterns.
Recent additions include:
• 404 Guard - automatically blocks visitors generating suspicious 404 activity
• WooCommerce protection - protects checkout, add-to-cart, and coupon forms from abuse
• Improved handling of social media crawlers and preview bots
• More reliable IP banning and automatic cleanup of expired bans
👀 Better security visibility
Understanding what’s happening on your website is just as important as blocking attacks.
Recent improvements include:
• Improved visitor logs with country detection
• Better event logging and reporting
• Printable Core Scanner security reports for audits or documentation
⚙️ Stability improvements
We’ve also spent a lot of time improving reliability across thousands of different hosting environments.
Recent fixes and improvements include:
• 2FA login handling improvements
• firewall edge-case fixes
• REST API compatibility improvements
• plugin conflict fixes
• reduced memory usage and faster vulnerability scanning
These improvements may not always be flashy - but they make WP Security Ninja far more stable in real-world deployments.
🔧 MainWP Integration Improvements
For agencies and developers managing multiple sites, we’ve also made several improvements to our MainWP extension.
Recent updates include:
• Run All Security Scans - trigger a full scan (Security Tests, Core Scanner, and Malware Scanner) directly from your MainWP dashboard
• Cleaner and more responsive layout to quickly review security status across sites
• New force database table creation tool for resolving incomplete installations remotely
• Various compatibility fixes and improvements for better stability with 2FA and other plugins
These improvements make it easier for agencies to monitor and manage security across multiple WordPress sites from one place.
🆓 Improvements to the free version
We’ve also invested heavily in improving the free version to help protect more WordPress sites.
Recent additions include:
• Firewall powered by the well-known 8G Firewall
• Event logging and monitoring
• improved security testing framework
Growing the free ecosystem ultimately benefits everyone - including Pro users.
🤖 What we’re working on now
We’re currently preparing an AI-assisted security advisor inside WP Security Ninja.
The goal is to help users quickly understand what they need and can do to improve their website security. What are easy fast changes and which things should be more carefully implemented.
This feature will rely on new capabilities coming with WordPress 7, which is expected soon - April 2026.
More details soon 🙂
