Q: Is it possible to display data in a grid- or card-view instead of a table with rows?
Would love to have all the sort&filter functionality but not in a table.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately, something like this is not possible with the plugin's built-in features.
You would need to develop a custom solution to use wpDataTables in this way.
