Great value for money. Pretty raw, but still love it
I'v made my MVP plugin in half an hour, and still can't stop polishing it right now. This already pays back, because the same premium plugin that I needed costs around $80.
And a lot of fun!
And a lot of new knowledge on CSS, PHP, WP structure for me. (unexpected entertaining and educational outcome, yes)
Spent a lot of hours playing around with the product, founders sorry, I hope I didn't spend all your money.
Of course, it is an MVP, and of course it runs on OpenAI API. But I find it useful and very convenient already.
Pros:
+ Really fast generations right into built-in editor.
+ With basic understanding of tech (WP, HTML, etc.) you can unleash a tremendous power for all of your ideas.
+ Great AI expertise in particular WP practices, but not all. You can make, say, a setting page and custom column in user table and bulk actions etc. for your plugin. OpenAI's default GPT wasn't able to do that for me.
+ Convenient multiple files handling right in the interface with editor and chat.
Cons:
– A very basic user's understanding of WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS and JS is a must. Otherwise, you can only do very-very simple things.
– UX still has a lot of space for improvement. When generates, I cannot scroll up in the chat, when needed. Version history, saving project and other common scenarios are still not obvious. No easy way to test. Exporting → uploading → deleting → repeating all the time driving me nuts. I got used to it, just copying all the code in VScode and uploading to the testing mule site. Still not convenient.
– Right now the product is down, I'm waiting for it to work again.
– Struggles to work with more than 10k symbols. It tries to optimize, adding textual shortcuts like "and rest of code", but it's not good, because the next code generation totally forgets the big picture and context.
I'm sure they're working on it right now, because it is a critical limitation for making real products that outperform other "toys". For example, many plugins consist of bunch of small files that are interlinked and aware of each other. But for make a plugin like this, every project in WP turbo then needs to generate proper docs for the AI to navigate between files and all the entities in them. To make larger, more complex and complete solid products.
Overall it is a must for everyone who already makes something on WordPress but wants to save money on simple yet paid plugins, or/and limited with their coding skills.

May 9, 2024Thanks for your detailed feedback Conrad! As you said, the product need improvements but the AppSumo deal offers a great way to get fast ROI for small projects.
Once integrations would be available, we'll work on several features to deliver a better workflow to create plugins.
Meanwhile, have fun with WPTurbo :)
