Additionally, if the goal is to offer limited-time specials or promotions, such features are generally more relevant for online customers.

Limited time specials are not only for online sales. Look at almost ANY physical store and you'll see that they run limited time specials ALL the time. Also, admins are not always the ones in the stores doing sales, that's why there is a cashier role.
